I posted on here a few days ago about a bolt retaining screw upgrade to the quick-change, and was told to give Knight a call. I don't like calling companies usually, because you always get the run around it seems like. Well instead of calling I just sent in an email to Knight Customer service asking if I could maybe drop my Master Hunter by the shop in Athens, Tennessee since I only live an hour away. I expected a form response of "we appreciate your business, but we don't do that so just mail it to Iowa". I was in for a big surprise. About two or so hours after I sent the email, my cellphone rings, I didn't recognize the number. I pick up, and the person asked for me, and I said "you got him". The guy says "hey Don, this is Gordy Edwards at Knight Rifles, I got you email and we need to set up a time for you to come in and upgrade that retention screw". I couldn't even talk, I'm not sure I even made any sense when I did start talking. This guy doesn't know me from Adam, he's big-time in the company and he's taking the time to call me personally and offering to fix my issue. I couldn't believe it. I think I did manage to tell him that I was glad they were starting back up, and I couldn't wait to see and buy what they had coming out, but honestly I was shell-shocked. My money will never be spent anywhere else on Black-powder rifles for this reason alone. Just thought everyone should know what a great company we have in our midst, and give Knight my customer service life-time achievement award!

Gordy is a great guy.
He has helped me a few times including with my LRH project. I got a great deal and the target trigger is outstanding.

You may enjoy this story.
Just before Knight was bought i got a LK-93 2nd hand. At this time Knight had no buyer and was basically no more than a parts/service house and things looked bad for them.
Well my LK-93 had the wrong FPJ conversion parts and it was no fault of theirs. I called Al at Knight and he sent me to Sam the head smith. Sam told be to mail him the parts and gave me his private number. He got the parts and confirmed my suspicion over the phone.
How many times do you get to talk to the head smith at a company?
Then sent me the correct parts NO CHARGE. I ONLY paid shipping to them. Later he called me and made sure everything was fine.
Now considering neither of them at that time had anything to gain and the company was in very bad shape.
That is customer service at its finest and Gordy is continuing that kind of service. Their products may not be cheap but keeping Americans employed that give that kind of service is worth it IMO.

Cool story, I did enjoy it.
Very glad they are on the way back.
As far as expensive, I really don't think they are out of line with any other good quality muzzleloader. The Encore, while nice are way overpriced in my opinion. The Savage evidently is being phased out. I think they could make a huge splash depending on what they bring out.

It is VERY sad that Savage stopped make the MLII but compared to sales of their other guns and the small market share they acquired, it wasn't profitable.
Henry Ball and his son will be making some now and i wish them the very best. Both are true Americans that love the sport and country. I may even send mine to them for some work to show my support.
I loved T/C for years but after S&W bought them it is my opinion that things are not the same. The Encore is very expensive and probably requires even more money to shoot on par with rifles of a similar cost.
I like my MLII but i love my Knights and when i head off to hunt, very few offer what i want in the field. Now if i was hunting plains game, my choice might be different. Ive shot sub 2" at 200 yards with my Elite 45 with Lehighs/SSts and i cant ask for much more where i hunt.
Tony was a hunter and made guns for hunters. The MK-85 was the first ML i know of with a REAL Timney trigger and it breaks at a sweet 2.5lbs. I have one still NIB. In roughly 2006 it was picked as one of the best 50 rifles of all time(#37), not just ML rifles either. No other ML i know of has that distinction.

gmb,
I have 2 LK93's one blue, one stainless. A MK85 stainless with Bell&Carlson Thumhole stock, and a DISC Master Hunter.
I love them all, but the MK85 sees the most hunting time.

My MK-85 is a later model Predator 79,xxx SS/Composite 54cal and it handles like a dream. NIB with all accessories and soon to be made even more special.
I got it for under $200 recently and want to make it my prized wall hanger.

That sounds nice, the problem with my Master Hunter is that it's so beautiful I have a hard time taking it to the woods to get scratches on it. ;D

I wish Lehigh would make a breech plug for the Lk-93 and Mk85 that would solve the blow-back issue using 209 primers and Blackhorn.

I wish Lehigh would make a breech plug for the Lk-93 and Mk85 that would solve the blow-back issue using 209 primers and Blackhorn. That would be a difficult task. A plunger gun is a plunger gun and the breach plug would need to be something like a Hubbard MagSpark for it to work. The only other option would be a whole new hammer/bolt assembly. Ive used BH209 with a FPJ in my LK-93 but i dont recommend you try it.

In the MK85 the receiver is closed on the left side, and with a one piece scope mount most of the blowback is directed away from a right handed shooter. The Lk93 being open on the left side as well as the right sprays a nice mixture of hot gas and burning powder across the fore-head. Not pleasant!!
