RB never let on that he was sick. His most recent posts were not that long ago.
In Rick's honor, I am positive he would want everyone to pursue and gain knowledge on his findings and calculated analysis's. He would not want us to grieve long...but to keep living our lives. That's just the way I picture him. A true realistic man.
He gave this board a flavor not many could and the fruits of his knowledge have been influential to many of us.
His ideas and thoughts are forever preserved here for everyone. Use them and continue to reap the benefits of RB. That's what we can do for him.
What a guy to have around when you consider the life of smokeless ML's and those of us who have them.
Not much more to say I guess....tough to lose the star quarterback.
I loaded my gun before the opener Friday night while RB was alive and I kissed the bullet before I rammed it home. This bullet will take a deer and I will think of Rick when I approach the downed animal. His last post to me was the benefits of the load I have picked this year. A heavier bullet optimizing pressure in a large bore gun that is pressure starved by wimpy weight bullets (relative to bore size).
Salute and goodbye.

I Just want to suggest that we start a sub board of the RB post. The wealth of information should not be lost and should be available for future smokeless shooters (he will live on in his information to all and every time I pull the trigger on my RB improved rifle)

RB asked me a few years ago if I had a rifle I wanted to trade for any work/gun(s). He knew I had a Sako 75 6PPC USA and just wanted to try to lure me out of it. Part of the trade was his well known, Obo'd stock 45 PacNor lapped to 0.450 for sabotless shooting. I had used it the prior year to kill 2 deer, sabotless -275BE. Anyway, little did I know that my son would kill his big deer with that gun on the afternoon RB passed. Anyway the trade was made. It now will be an even more cherished rifle. My son will now get to use another 45(Kevin Rayhill) and the Obo stocked 45 will only be used on "special" days with the 275BE it was made for. Also, who could have known that 3 days after one of RB's posts, he would be gone. Yes, he was ill and very concerned about his apparent inability to get his situation under his control. I had asked him about going to Texas hog hunting again this winter. He said he was concerned about even being able to deer hunt any even in easy conditions. Life is precious, RB was special.

My gosh, words escape me. He seemed like a heckuva guy, a fountain of knowledge, but more importantly, a decent man who was always willing to help and offer assistance. I'm sorry I never got to know him as well as some of you all did. Rest in peace, Rick.

Including his web site would be good also, IMO.

Some type of tribute is due...
Making the 45 smokeless mainstream regardless of the bureaucratic big business that tries to hold it down, would be the greatest reward.
Its up to us to keep it going, keep introducing it to others.

Anyway to Honor Rick is an excellent idea, I fear we will not see his equal.
I am richer for knowing him.

I suggested a banner at the top of the smokeless board. Due to board regulations it doesn't seem possible. Maybe a Avatar could be created in memory of rick and we could have it next to all post's on the board?

How about adding his web pages and all of his posts to the tip and hints in his memory. So we can find them real easy to reveiw as needed. RIP Rick

I will leave Rick's e-mail address on my computers and his phone number on my phones.
I was thinking of retiring my RB Special, but on second thought that would be foolish, instead, when successful on game, I'll just say, "Well Rick, we did it again"

After seeing the problem on the for sale forum, i think it's perfect timing. Pro Boards limits certain things on the board. Another example is, not being able to put up a rememberance for RB.
I say dump this board and purchase another forum. Modern Muzzleloader did this a few years ago. Bigger, faster, better. Now you can pick and choose your sponsors and collect donations to cover the cost of the board.
