I have a question about the Encore 209x50 20 inch barrel PN 3933. How accurate is a 20 inch barrel? They are on clearance on TC's website and was wondering if they are any count. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Does no one have any info of the 20" barrel from TC? I really like the thought of toting a 20" barrel thru the woods verses a 26" or 28" barrel, but don't want to buy something that will not shoot.

I can not help ypu with the t/c 20" barrel but I have a 21" remington 700ml that I love. It shoots right with the 24" barrel out to 125 yards. After that the 24 is a little more accurate but not much. I always used 100 gr of powder in the 21 and it seemed to shoot the same as the 24 so I think it was burning all the powder. It is all I carry during gun season. If you are wanting to shoot magnum loads I am not sure the 20" barrel will burn all the powder.

Sisko, If you plan to use BPsubs, I'd say to stick with FFFG T7 loose. You'll get a little quicker burn. I'd stay away from pellets and BH209.

Guys, thanks for the help. If TC has any 20" barrels left in their inventory I may just pick one up.

I wouldn't concern yourself with the short barrel. I burn 120gr of BH209 with heavy saboted bullets in my 20" GMB54-120 54cal with great results. My groups with 300gr+ bullets were even smaller with the heavier load of powder.
I cant complain about 3 shots touching at 90 yards with 300gr and 385gr bullets but my sabots do load tight.
Granted the 54 bore is larger than the 50cal and your results will vary. Usually 100gr of BH209 is plenty for for deer sized game and with a snug sabot it is my opinion you will get nearly a complete burn with most bullets. Heavier bullets will help get a more complete burn also.

I have an Austin-Halleck .45 with a 20" barrel, it loves 100 gr. of BH209 and 200 gr. shockwaves. Shoots moa, Killed an 8 pt. last year at 190 yds.
