I think your powder load is way too high, esp for a 27" barrel. The 36 twist, and possibly slightly looser Douglas barrel should help some. Consider 58-62 g VV-120, or 75-77g 2015. I think a 300SST and 74-75g 2015 would likely be your best load. I really like my STD 50 cal SMI barrel. VERY consistent.

H-110 IS NOT a recomended powder! the ball powder is too small for most breach plugs and ventliners and can be dangerous. It can get past the vent and into the breech plug if it is a savage style. I do not know your breach plug design so i really cannot say for 100%. but i hope some others will chime in. now VV N-110 44 grns is about max.

No H-110!!! Buy some 2015 and start with it. It is extremely accurate, economical, and " just right" for your barrel length. The 275 BE ( in addition to the 300SST) would be a good choice to consider. H-322 also is worth considering. Ron's loads on the SMI web site are very good. Try them. They are designed for the 28", 36" twist Douglas barrel.

But some IMR 4759 and shoot 42-46 grains using your 250 grain bullets it should be close to 2250 - 2500 fps with your 27" barrel. Very reliable and accurate. Mike
