Got to try the marlin rifle last week in 270 win.I believe it is going to shoot very good.I tried 2 loads that shoot well in my rem 270 and they both went less than an inch at 100 yds. This was my brothers rifle and he only shoots just before the deer season and he had 3 loads that shot around an inch for him. The black model was $299 and the cameo model was $317 plus tax. The trigger was easy to adjust,I set his on 2 3/4 lbs. He is coming back down soon as he gets a chance and I can see what it will do at 300 yds. It has a trigger like the savage accura trigger, looks like a cross of the rem, weatherby and savage.

A deer rifle that shoots 1moa for 300 bucks, how can you go wrong. By the way where did he get it?

herman, i just bought one in 25-06. i tried several loads in it but it likes h4831sc the best. bullet was 117 gr sierra prohunter. for 295.00 its the best deal in a rifle on the planet. mine shot just under an inch with above load.

Was at the gun shop thursday and he had gotten some of the 25/06's in the blue ($299)The only thing I think the 22 in barrel is a mite too short. You get way too much muzzle flash with some powders. But as far as shooting they still shoot. I have a tikka in 25/06 and it has a 23 in barrel if it had at least a 24 in barrel I would like it more. Last year I bought some blemished 100 gr hornadys from mid way and they really shot well, because they shot one holers at 100 yds I tried them out on a deer at 250 yds.It shot throgh just behind the shoulder and the deer dropped.Tried the 110 accurabond and shot a large buck (don't remember the weight) at 100 yds and it went about 25 yds same shot all the way through. If you want to try some different loads: the 100 horn.was 52.5 grs of IMR 4350,wlr prim. The 110 accbond was R-22 at 53.5 grs and F210 prim. R-25 works great with 100 to 120 gr bullets also. A fellow brought a target he had shot at 100 yds with the 30/06 and it was a one holer with a box of rem factory bullets. The short actions are susposed to be out in june as I understand. If you try these loads start lower and work up the barrels are different lenghts so you should get different speeds.
