I have a 28 twist SMI barrel and it shoots either one well. In the 1.25 inch range at 100 yards. This was with the first load I put in it and never tried anything else. Others on here have used faster twists with good results and I am sure will chime in.

:)gsm imo a 22 twist is a real good one. A lot of us here have been shooting that twist for a long time with great results. I have shot twist from 14 to 28 and they all shot well but I think the 22 is the most versatile twist of the bunch. Goodluck

My Savage will likely end up as a 45 also but im not sure i want the fast 1-22 PacNor. I would prefer something a bit slower like a 1-24 but would be very interested in hearing about the results with a 1-28 SMI.
Does anyone offer a 1-24 45cal replacement for the savage or other conversion.

My SMI .50 shoots great with a 1:22 twist.

There should be nothing wrong with a 28 twist, standard inlines do fine with those bullets at slower velocities with a 28 twist. My PacNor is a 22 twist per dave d's suggestion and it shoots the 200SW great too. The advantage to a faster twist may be that if someone comes out with a longer higher BC bullet you will be able to shoot it.
I'm still waiting on that one though.

I think dave d has nailed it down! I don't hear of anyone with a 1 - 22 PN complaining about accuracy. It will stabilize a 175 Barnes saboted or a 300 XTP sabot less and both with excellent results. A 1 - 28 twist might not stabilize the 300 and a 1 - 14 might over stabilize and tear up a sabot with the lighter bullets? Again I say..........Might?---------Might Not? The 1 - 22 just plain works with both. "You pays your money..........You takes your chances?" Richard

:)Scott you can get a 24 twist if you want but it will cost a extra (don't quote me) $50 for them to make a button. They have a 26 twist because vince paid to have that twist. Unfortunately Vincent hasn't posted about it unless I missed it.22 twist is not to fast of a twist to disrupt sabots. Take a look at Richards loads that are 3000fps. I've shot a 14 twist to 2700fps with no problem and great accuracy. Goodluck guys whatever twist you guys pick.
