Anyone try these? Any substance to it?
"The hole in the factory Savage vent liner measures .0305".
By experimenting with a variety of breech plugs utilizing vent liner holes between .0285" and .035", we have found that there is a 'sweet spot' for the vent hole size and that is .033". We also determined that a step-hole offers more consistent results than the results achieved by using a one sized through hole. In other words, looking from the primer side, our vent liner hole is one size for the first .120" of depth and then steps down to .033" diameter for the balance. This step-hole acts as a sort of funnel and an expansion chamber all at once; getting more flame to the powder while reducing the pressure from the primer.
Read it on PR's web and thought I'd ask.

I use them. Can't really say if I noticed a big difference but haven't had any problems.

:)John they work the same as any other vent and last a lot longer then the stock savages ventliner. I've used them and they work fine.

I use them and have for several years. excellent.
I would like 0.28 vent hole, I find the smaller the better. Unlike lots of folks on this site I clean both BP and Vent completely after each range session. After 9 years and 6000 plus shots fired, I find that works best for me.

It seems to me if you used 5744 with a 300gr bullet set off by a WW209 then .033-.034" is the sweet spot. But with N110 or 4579 with a 250gr bullet using a Federal 209A or CCI 209M .030-.031" seemed to do better. I haven't re-visted this line of testing in a few years. You also have to remember Cecil and RW at one time were best friends. Cecil sent me a email in 2001 that singed my hair, I emailed him asking if his bullets were hard enough to take smokeless out of a 10ML and he flamed me bad telling me how dumb I was using smokeless powder in a muzzleloader.

Don't feel bad, Rossman, he singed me too. I asked if his small rifle primer conv. would ignite BH209, his response was, "WHY DO YOU THINK THEY CALL IT 209?" Hes pretty tough!!

I think he is getting burned out. Bought is stuff when you could buy it in bulk and he would send it in zip lock bags. I still have some Keith nose for my side hammer. There is something majic about a 1 in 28 twist and his 260 gr DC. He makes some great bullets, thats for sure.

Funny. From his website- "The Savage 10ML-II is potentially the most powerful, most accurate, most trouble-free muzzleloader commercially available. Out of the box it is easily a 2 MOA muzzleloader. Once tweaked, the Savage is clearly in a league of it's own. Smokeless powder in muzzleloaders is a radical concept that will never appeal to everyone but I will tell you that there will always be room for a Savage in my muzzleloader collection." www.prbullet.com/savage2.htmWhat a tool

Yes, he has some great bullets. My Encore loves the Elite 330 gr. HP's w/100 grs. of BH209.

From what I understand he didn't actually do the gunsmithing on the "Savage Magic" package he was offering. It was a buddy of his. It was basicly the same thing Henry offered on his limited edition except for a small dowel of tool steel stuck in the end of the rear action screw. He had this belief that the bolt cammed on it instead of it just retaining the bolt. The "Magic" part was a dig on RW who has written several books on card magic tricks.

Rossman, He treated me the same way. I called him after I got my first ML I and ask about his bullets in the Savage. He proceeded to chew my azz for shooting smokeless powder in a muzzleloader. I hung up on him. Never bought anything from him and never will. Him and Wakeman were thick as thiefs until they had a big falling out over a video deal on a Canadian caribou hunt. ;D ;)Mike
