Hey Guys My Father In Law passed away about 2 years ago and I got alot of reloading stuff, That I know nothing about, But my question is there is a Large Cardboard tub of Smokeless Powder (Hercules) Red Dot.. It says for shotgun reloading and Pistols. Just wondering. Thanks Dave

No common shotgun powder is useful in smokeless muzzleloading to my knowledge, except for very low amounts of a couple of very selective powders for very reduced loads. Much too fast burning rate.
Give it to someone who reloads pistol or shotgun cartridges. Max safe loads would likely be substantially lower in performance than even black powder and likely with inconsistent ignition. (I tried some Red Dot once under very controlled conditions once. Not worth your time and effort.)

Red Dot is pretty much used in reloading shells for shooting trap and skeet.

Seems like I remember using some Red Dot in lite 45 ACP loads, but mostly in lite loads in 12 ga shot shells. BH

Red Dot is a shotgun and pistol powder. It is one of these fastest there is and not suitable for smokeless muzzle loading. Mike
