This is all new to me so I hope this comes out ok. Let me kinda introduce myself. I am from Ohio, I have hunted with a rifle, compound bow, crossbow, shotgun and muzzle loader. Most of my hunting now is with a compound bow and muzzle loader. I have been checking out this sight for about 3 years or so and have benefited from a lot of great information. Thanks to everyone. I have a couple questions that I was hoping you guys could help me with. I have a Encore that I really like. I use to use a 25 acp converted breech plug in it when I used 777 and liked it, didn't notice much if any difference in the crud ring but it shot real well and was a lot easier to load with gloves on or with cold hands. Changed to BH 209 a couple of years ago and I wont shoot anything else. Question has anyone used Precision Rifles Encore breech plug that uses a shortened 6mm case with a large rifle pri. if so what did you think, how was your ignition. 2nd Question since I started using BH 209 after about 3-4 shots of between 100-120 grs of powder I have to use something to help get the primers out I am using cci mag. pri. the rifle shoots great I can keep 3 shoots around a inch give or take .5 inches. when I do my part, Is this normal, any ideas, I tried a new breech plug just in case my other one had eroded out some. Didnt help any. Thanks

Sounds like most everything is working well for you. Have you considered using a correctly sized drill bit in the primer pocket after 2-3 shots to clean the carbon out? Possibly carbon build up is causing the primers to stick somewhat? If that's all it is it would let you stay with what you know works well. Good luck

I sent Cecil Epps (Precision Rifle) an e-mail asking about the use of the rifle primers with BH209. His response was "why do you think they call it 209?" So I tried the Vari-Flame adapter in my Austin-Halleck .50 w/BH209 anyway. Didn't work too well. Got a lot of fizzers and ka-pows. Live & learn, went back to the CCI mag primers, no problem.

:)np welcome. I shoot lrms in my encore with bh and it goes bang everytime. The only difference is my plug is homemade so it slips over the hex and seals right up against the bottom of the case. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere of a guy using that plug with bh. Goodluck

Sorry this reply took so long. Been busy with hunting mostly, great time of year. I had also sent Cecil a e-mail last year but he told me that his lrms breech plug work great with BH and I talked to him a few days ago and he again stated the same thing so I am not sure where the confusion is. I am pretty sure that the Vari-Flame will only accept small rifle pri. that may be where the problem is at. I went ahead and ordered one of Cecil's plugs but I have this week off for bow season and with youth season right around the corner and my daughter using my Encore for that I am going to take rangeballs advise and stick with the original plug. When I get a chance to test the lrms plug probably in mid dec. I will let you know how it works. dave d. Can you post some pictures of your plug? What type of pri. Carrier did you use? Precision uses a 6mm case cut down but I believe Cecil said that I could use 308 but I will have to check on that. How does it work and would you make them to sell? Thanks

I'm sorry you don't make them for sale too. I've got a Petes for same set up and now I need a barrel for it. I'm thinking of going for a .50 sabotless setup to use on my CO trip next year. Looks like easy to handle in cold weather with gloves, fishing em out of the pocket etc... 10
