My favorite for hunting is the 250 Barnes Expander with supplied sabot in my original 10 ML and 10ML II. Using 46 grains of IMR 4759 in the 10ML I its travels 2375 fps. With 42 grains in the 10ML II it goes 2250 fps. I've shot 30+ deer using this load.

Any of the Barnes bullets. Never recovered one from a deer. Got a 300 gr. MZ from an elk. Looks like the pictures.

Voted for Hornady...not that I think it's necessarily better than the rest, but because it's all I've ever used in the field.

I voted other. Shoot a lot of stuff but mostly hunt with my cast bullets. In the Savage it's a smoothsided 300 gr. .452 with .30 meplat that go splat. Shoots good in the red CR and yellow CR. Of the commercial bullets the .458s in orange sabot shoot the most accurate for me. Even cast my own RBs and minne and REALs for my smokey guns. 10
PS. Betcha screwbolts votes other also.

I had to vote for the Hornady XTP after I saw how it performed on the buffalo I shot.

I would say Barnes. Because I load develop with the Hornady 300 grain HP #4500, but I choose to hunt with the BO.

I would have to say the Remington 300g Is producing well for me, Also the Barnes 300g Does well, but the Remington is also Cheaper to shoot.

I am in the same boat with splinter. The Remington shoots best for me and has always had the desired effect.

Both the 300gn BO and the 300gn Remington have proved to be deadly in my fifty. If you want to shoot through both shoulders at 200+ yds pick the BO. I've yet to see how the 200gn bullets perform in my new .45. Zen

I had to vote for the Hornady XTP after I saw how it performed on the buffalo I shot. The 300 grain XTP will kill whitetails in their tracks. It doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But it isn't used much because it isn't as accurate as the BO or .458 Remingtons out to 200 yards. So what?!! It is accurate enough at 200 yards and we all know that most shots are well within 100 yards when hunting deer. Considering it's much cheaper cost I would rate it the best whitetail bullet out of the Savage 10ML. Doug

I'm presently using Barnes 250 grain TMZs until they run out, and they are certainly great Deer killers...BUT, have you ever seen what a Nosler .451 partition does to a Deer? The Nosler Partition, either 260 grain HP or 300 grain FP, are AWESOME bullets! I'm surprised more Folks are not using them.

Nosler Partition is an excellent bullet, I believe Smoke uses them, I call it the second best bullet, If you want deep penetation with picture book mushroom, Its the Barnes X bullet, or its replacemrnt.

Barnes 250 TMZ....hands down......if it would shoot at extended ranges.
You can drive it to 2850 fps safely and send it through the nastiest angle of a large beast and get everything.....expansion, bone crushing ability, and complete penetration. It's fast, flat and unstoppable.
This bullet doesn't shoot lights out for me when after minute of whitetail heart past 150-175 yds.
However it is my favorite bullet.
Next favorite is the 325 Hornady FTX for accuracy reasons. We'll see this year if it is just a super grenade.....which I think it will be up close. But for extended range it might me the ticket at 2,450 fps and 1.5 MOA all day.

I like to 250gr XTP. They have performed flawlessly on the dozen or so deer killed with them.

Had to vote for Barnes (bx types). Since switching to the PN .45, it's all I've hunted with.
I do have a strong feeling, however, that at ranges out there where the BX has slowed down to the point of not opening up well, the SST would be more effective and not be so frangible as the SST's can be at closer ranges.
