What are some the loads you guys are shooting in your 50 cal savage with the 300 grain barnes original and 275 grain Parker BE. A buddy is wanting me to work a load up in his since he want have time. I have xmr5744, sr4759, n110, n120, h322, aa2015, and a little bit of imr4198. For sabots I have short black mmp, mmp-12, mmp-24, orange mmp, short black harvester, and some black crush ribs for the barnes. I also have some Harvester H15045BR but dont why I have them or what they are even for if someone could enlighten me on those. For primers I have CCI standard and Winchesters. Thanks!

I knew there was a N120 and barnes load that most have had good luck with but couldnt remember what it was since N120 is about as scarce as hens teeth. He found some somewhere though and I'm going to run it through mine also. You know, for research and development ;D. Yeah I have a lot of components and powder cause I love to shoot and tinker ;D I'm shooting the parkers in my nula and I love them! They consistently shoot <5/8" groups with the short black harvester and 44 grains of 4759. With the savage being a faster twist I wondered if that load would work as well in the savage.

Nate, I tried the fallowing loads to shoot Barnes "Os":
75 grains RL-10X Harvester black CR sabot Federal 209
65 grains RL-7 Harvester black CR sabot Federal 209
59 grains N120 Harvester black CR sabot Federal 209
All three gave me 100yrd 3-shot groups at or below 1.5" well with in MY PERSONAL accuracy standards.
I chose the RL-10X load as it also was my best performing powder with Barnes all copper 290 TMZs and I could save some $$$ buy buying one powder for two loads.
The N120 load worked extreamly well, but I chose not to use it as N120 is next to impossible to get by me except by mail and I did not wish to pay the Haz/M fee for S&H. I was disapointed in this fact as N120 has been established beyond doubt as "THE GO TO" powder for the .458 Barnes "O". Thankfully my RL-10X gives me excellent accuracy out to 200yrds with all the FPS I could want.
The RL-7 is 95% as good as the 10X, but for the reason I stated above I chose 10X over it.
Hope this helps, Arthur.

My old 50 cal barrel liked:
300g Barnes Original 67g H4198 Harvester Black Crush Rib sabot Fed209A
Consistent 2400 fps and consistent 1.5 MOA accuracy out to 250 yds.

My Savage likes 38gr of 110 with a 300gr remington. The BOs are very difficult to get down the barrel in my ML.

What Deadeye said. Also, you can try 43-45 gr's of Accurate 5744 with Harv. BCR sabots. 5744 is very consistant in all weather conditions. 57-60 gr's of the N120 is the ticket for many guys though. If you run out of N120 and can't find, then switch to H4198. (67-70 gr's)

Thanks for the info guys! I shot it yesterday. I took the gun completely apart even the rings and bases. Cleaned and torqued everything back together. I swear his barrel is really rough. It feels like your pushing the sabot through sandpaper Its also extremely loose the first half then tightens as you get near the breach with the orange mmps but the BCR loads tight and consistent but it still feels like sandpaper. I shot it 4 times at my farm. 3 shots with the BO, orange mmp and 60 grains of N120 went into one small hole. Could cover them with a nickel. That was at 58 yards tho. Went home and loaded up more powder to take it to the range today but never could get it to shoot. About 2" was the best at 100 yards. My buddy had his savage and I had my NULA and the best group was with mine and it was only a 1 1/4" where its normally a 1/2" gun. I'm guessing it was the heat (83) even tho we gave them 20 min before shots. Cooling down friday so I will head back but I'm going to try the BCR since I like the way they loaded. If not I will switch back to the MMP
