Anybody else shot this load with 195 Barnes or 200 SST? I shot this load today with 195g BX and it shot very well and sabots did not look over stressed even in 50 to 60F temps. Speed averaged 2820 fps.
I don't recall anyone else shooting this much H4198 without blowing sabots. I'd like to hear others experience/results with this load.

These are the only loads that I have gotten the 195's to shoot good. Marty sent me 5 of his to try they are the 60 gr load. I have some of the new flat based now to try with the 4198 soon as I get around to it.Richard order he and I some. I did try 5 at 200 yds with the load I am going to use this year for deer and they didn't do to well,I didn't knurl them either so will try that too. Our season starts the 30th of oct for 2 weeks.Going to use the 200 sst's with N110=17 grs/ N130=56 grs that gets 2977 average.Want to see how that speeds works with the sst's.That is a 5 shot group with the 64 grs.

I use 65 gr. of IMR 4198 and a 200 gr Hornady(XPT) in a tan sabot. I have never blown a sabot and they shoot great but my speed has never been over 2600 fps. My barrel is real lose, a 452 just drops down it. That might be the reason for the slower speed.

Shooter...
I shot four, 3 shot groups at 200 yds with this load. They averaged right at 2". Nothing spectacular but plenty good for me.
And I did not have to knurl bullets to get good accuracy or consistent speeds. The only thing I can contribute this to is the new and improved flat base design. Previous versions of this bullet I had to knurl to get consistent results.
rangeball...
Wait time was 5 minutes between shots and probably 15 minutes between groups. I don't use a cool rod and always shoot with a fouled barrel.

I have one. The light tan MMPs are the largest sabots and work better than the dark brown knight sabots which work better than the light blue Harvesters that are so good in the 448 barrels. Knurled 40 cal bullets seem to do fairly well with the tan mmps and heavily knurled 300SSTs and especially 300XTPs shoot well out of my barrel. The Parkers(0.450") are a lost cause in this large of a barrel.
