I like what they did for the 2011 line up. The carbon Matrix was improved and the they made a 32 axle to axle. www.hoyt.com/compound_bows/

They look like just a bunch of machines to me. But WHAT a group of machines!! To me there are just 2 kinds of compound bows: parallel limbed bows and out-dated bows. My son took over my Hoyt Razorteck . It has accounted for 4 bear and over 30 deer between the 2 of us. Hoyt is difficult to beat, maybe Bowtec.

Just got my hoyt Matrix tonight... With that length and brace height, I bet it will be a sweet shooting bow.

i have another Hoyt with the same brace and axle to axle. And it shoots almost 400 grains at 292 fps nice draw and quite. But the Matrix very smooth draw and whisper quite plus so much lighter same speed. the Al[hamax is faster but brace is much less. I like hoyt, the brand has been around for awhile and the product quality is high.

The big three in compound bow sales is still Mathews, Hoyt and Bowtech but they are now being pushed by some companies that are producing some very high quality bows. Elite Archery is one of them and New Breed Archery is another. I have a NBA Cyborg which is the easiest 60 lb draw that I have ever encountered and has an IBO speed rating of 330 fps. In fact, I practice a four second draw with no problem and it feels like I can hold at full draw forever.
Hoyt stands out as just about the only bow manufacturer that advertises a realistic IBO speed rating for their bows. Some of their bows will even produce real life speeds that will exceed the IBO speeds that are posted for them which is extremely rare in the archery industry. Right now I have my eye on a 2010 Hoyt Maxxis 31 as I am having some difficulty maneuvering my 37 1/2" ATA Cyborg around in my climbing tree stand and the Maxxis also sports a very smooth draw which is critical for me in the hunting situation.
Also, no other compound bow company other than Hoyt boasts that you can dry fire their bows 1000 times without any damage to the limbs. I don't think I want to test that.

My preference is Hoyt for many of the reasons noted. My arrow setup wieghts about 390 gr and i shoot that with a Trykon XL XT with 29 inch cam and the crhonograph says 292 fps. The bow is rated for 318 ibo. Im sure if i were to drop arrow setup to 350 i would get the 318 fps or there about. The Matrix is about the same speed maybe a tad faster. Have not chrono it yet and its raining today so i have a day or two before I can play with it. I looked at the up and coming bows and there are some nice smoth drawing bows. But I am not comfortable with the history of the new companies, i dont know about them or how things are made etc. The only thing about the Hoyt Carbons is the price tag.

when i owned my pro-shop hoyt was the choice, they started getting their but kicked by matthews & hoyt has responded, thats all i shoot. i met earl hoyt before he passed ,a great man! after earl sold hoyt he started a company called "sky archery" longbows & recurves. i called him there to see if i could get a tip redone on one of the old hoyt recurves, sure he done better yet,he totally refinished the bow, took care of the tips & signed the bow. just a reflection of the man.

My Cybertec (Since 2003) has been a great bow. I hope it lasts a long time cause replacing a bow these days cost more then a gun if you want a good one with the accessories.....quiver...rest...sights...stabilizer...where does it end?
My Hoyt freak buddy just spent over a grand to get his newest Hoyt and the gadgets. Did I say he's a freak?

the base proce for a Hoyt Carbon Matrix is $1600 for the 2010 model, the 2011 models i have not got a price yet. they are a lot of money. I still have to sight in my 2010 model to see what it does. I shot it in the rain and wind today and my elevation at 30 yds is what my other bow is at 20 yds so i know it is much faster than i thought. So By friday i should have an answer.

I guess I'll continue to limp along without the benefit of parallel limb technology. My 2004 Ultra Tech is still capable of killing deer.

I bought a 2010 Hoyt Maxxis 31 and didn't like the draw. I guess I have been spoiled by the easy draws and fast speeds of the New Breed bows. The Maxxis was stiff to start and had a slight hump at the end set at 60 lbs. It was however very very dead in the hand and accurate to shoot. My holding hand would not know that the shot had been released. Beautiful bow that is currently for sale in the classifieds for a very good price. Just not my style in the easy draw department.

Like my Bowtech Destroyer very much. Very quiet, from draw to shot.

I still shoot an old 2005 ultra-tec with spirals. It was a fast bow in its day and still not too bad today. It can still blast through those 250 pound whitetails. I would like to shoot a newer bow just to feel the difference.Hoyt has always seem to make a premium limb. I use to be a shop shooter for Mathews and those bows shot well also. I do wonder if the speed of the newer bows are about maxed out. I would think the more energy stored the poundage would peak much earlier in the draw. I would think that a newer design cam might make it feel like your pulling more than peak weight. I would like to shoot the Matrix just to feel how a carbon bow felt!
