Have two Sav.MLII's. Wanting to get a BP gun just to play with and carry when shots will be under 100 yrds. I know that with the BP's many are shooting > 200 and know they are capable. Not here to debate that. My question is whatsd the best value for a in line 209.
Right now i'm leaning toward a CVA Optima from Sportsman Guide. With my club discounts can get delivered to my house for around 175.00. (I belive it's the pre-hand twist plug) not a problem tho
Any other deals out there

if you are never going to go smokeless that sounds like a good deal. I would go with the 10ML II so you could do either. But if cost is an issue?

A couple years ago I thought the same as you. I had a couple Savages and thought it would be nice to have BP rifle for river hunting. Blackhorn 209 was new on the scene and so were the Thompson Center Triumphs. Both were getting outstanding reviews so I went out and bought me a Triumph thinking I would take it hunting under the right circumstances. It was a great shooter in most every way. The problem for me was that every time I went hunting I couldn't help but grab my Savage. Two hunting seasons went by and the Triumph stayed in the safe until I finally traded it off to a young man who plans on hunting with it.....The trade was good for him and good for the Triumph . It will no longer get left at home.....But then it might be the ticket for you....There are several good BP rifles out there... Good luck Zen
