I'm sure a thread like this has been done, but I cant find it.
I found how to order the barrel, didn't find the cost?
Also seen lots of duplex loads for them, which kind of makes me nervous. Many regular(single powder loads) loads for them?

The barrel (Pac Nor, assuming a Savage ML II) will be a little over $400. Call them and they will tell you. No need to duplex. Lots of good single powder loads to try. 56-63 gr of H4198 seems to be the favorite of most.

Hoss.............Yup, thats me burning the two powders ;D As far as single powder loads? Anywhere from around 54 gr. of H-4198 to 64 gr. of the same powder will get you from about 2400 fps into the 2700's with very good accuracy. Not that you are in a super cold area, unless you head up to the NW section of our state, but adding a little N-110 under some of the powders is good insurance that it will go "bang" when the temp.'s drop ;D Richard

Sabot less works, but takes a lot more fiddlin' around to get it right! Sizing,(various dies) knurling, re-sizing, wads. If you have the time and determination, it can work quite well! Saboted is just much easier with instant good results. Richard

Same range/heat issues with the 45 as the 50 then? I was under the impression that 45's saved time on cooling?

Same range/heat issues with the 45 as the 50 then? I was under the impression that 45's saved time on cooling? I think mostly that's related to sabotless but many report being able to load and fire saboted with H4198 and flat base bullets, without a cooling rod.

Saboted, I think group size is still impacted by heat with the 45 (even if you have flat based bullets and aren't blowing sabots), but not as susceptible as the 50cal is.
