started out with h4198, BO, BCR, MMP orange and got desent groups. Had to keep going up in powder for groups to come in. this was defeating my purpose with tring to "down" load from my other MLII which liked 69 h4198 and 300SST. Switched to 4759 and tried some differant loads. at 100 shot a very good group (alllbut touching cloverleaf). this was 44 grs 4759 with the BO and BCR sabot. Went to 200 yrds. and it opened up to around 6 or 7 inches. time was up. went and got some more 4759 and loaded up from 44-48 gr loads. Got more BCR and MMPs . Hopfully will be able to bring 200 yrd groups in around 4'' and then to 300 for a sub 6'' group. and then I will be happy ( or at least sassyfied) for now. need to hurry my eastern shore MD trip is in about ten days ( 21st )
4759 seems to be much milder on the shoulder than the 4198. My question is how far can I go with 4759 and wheres the sweet spot with the 300BO. not really looking for a speed load just a good WT load. from what I gather anything between 225o and 2400 should be very doable with the 4759 and 300 BO.

Kudzu ,If you are talking about reducing recoil, you will get there a whole lot quicker reducing bullet weight, Rusty

Your 4759 loads were milder on your shoulder because they were probably 200-300 fps slower than the 4198 load you mention. The fastest I've ever gotten a BO to shoot with 4759 was around 2100 fps, that was with 45g. That's as much 4759 I've tried with 300g bullets. I've shot the BO at 2500 fps with 70 g H4198. 48g of 4759 sounds kinda hot with a 300g gr bullet. I would try 42 to 45g of 4759 with the BO and see if your groups improve at 200 yds.

the 300's just seem to shoot better, may try the parker 275. somewhere on here I saw 42-48 for 4759 ( don't remember what gr bullet that was for)

42gr of 4759 times right at 2000fps with a 300 Rem. It will take a high dose of 4759 most likely to reach 2200fps unless you have some of the old stuff in the tin cans.

42-46 grains should push the 300 grain bullet about the speed you are looking for. I shoot the old can 4759 in my 10ML I and 46 grain and a 250 Barnes MZ do 2375. 250 XTP'x wth the same grain do 2325 fps. Mike

Did a lot of shooting today with differant loads. 66-68 h4198 and 44-47 4759. The BO and the Parker BE.
Today 44grs 4759 and the 275 parker BE shot the best group of the day 1-1/4'' at 200.
Ran out of time and bullets. Will go back with several loads from 44 to 45 grs 4759 and fine tune.
the BO with both powders and both the HCR and the mmp orange left a little to be desired for me. Havn't gave up on them yet but have not found the sweet spot for them yet.

1 1/4" at 200 yards is a tough thing to gripe about. Should be a real killer in the deer woods.

Hopfully I will get to find out next week, the 21st , as I will be traveling to one of my favorite places. The Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Feel sure the parkers will get the nod for this season. Any guess as to MV for this load - 44grs. 4759 and 275 parkerBE. Very shady where we shot today and chrony was not cooperating.

My longest deer kill with the 275 Parker BE was 319 yards, from a MV of 2307 fps. The buck fell within 30 yards of the point of impact and the Parker retained 78% of its weight while mushrooming at least 50%. Wonderful bullet.

tried several differant 4198 loads with the BO but never found the right combo. will continue to play later, for now it's huntin time. After I get my loaned MLII back from pop-n-law I will set it up with the BO and probally stick with the parkers in the other.
Any guess as to MV for the 44gr 4759 and 275 parkers out of the Savage

2200 - 2250 fps.
Try Reloader 7 instead of H4198. Last week for me R7 out shot H4198 with 300 grain bullets. 64, 65 grains of R7 shot the best using Rem 300 HP / BCR sabot. MIke
