In my old GM Barreled Hawken I used to use T/C Break away sabots and I loaded them with cold swaged Hornaday 44 caliber bullets. This load was very accurate and deadly as in DRT on most deer, but it lost accuracy when I went above 100gr of BP. Was this because of the hollow point soft lead bullet or because of the 50 to 44 caliber issue and highier pressures with a weak sabot design?
The reason I ask is because I am getting ready to order some HPH-12 sabots from MMP and I was thinking about buying some of the green sabots to try using 44 caliber bullets in my new Accura. This should improve my bullets BC some and strech out the range on it a bit.
Do you think that the MMP green sabots will push that soft lead HP Hornaday bullet faster and still print well or will I need to use a XTP or even more expensive bullet to shoot 44 caliber bullets?
