I have heard a lot of people say they use the BLUE Harvester sabot (not the crush rib type) but when I look at the Harvester site I only see the blue ones for the smaller caliber bullets. Am I missing something? Do they make that sabot for 45 caliber bullets to use in a 50 Cal ML?
It looks like it will be another year before I get my Rem 700 custom ML built so I picked up one of the CVA Accura thumbhole rifle's currently on sale. You just can't beat $259 for a new SS in-line with Bergera barrel, they must be selling them at cost to clear out the old BP design models. It arrived today and I attached the Nikon scope with Warren bases and rings. It looks pretty sharp. Tonight I picked up some Blackhorn 209 to try out tomorrow with the MMP sabots I bought last year and the Parker 275 gr BE's. Anyone think this comb will work first time out?? I have some Hornaday 250 gr bullet/sabot combo's I can try as well plus some 240gr XTP's and the above mentioned MMP sabots. Hopefully one of those will give me a good load with this new in-line.
I also have some 240 swaged lead Horn pistol bullets ( see wicked expansion on deer, DRT) but in the past while shooting them in my Green Mountain Hawken barrel they seemed to start flying to far off places when the velocity was increased past 100gr of BP. Could this be because of the Break-Away sabot I was using or because of the soft lead HP bullet?
Any suggestions??

Sabots are color coded by each manufacture for size and caliber. Each manufacture uses a different color on some and they same for others. Go to Harvester and MMP site and you will see the difference. Mike
