Are the loads posted in the LOAD INFO board for bone stock Savage MLII's? My hunting bud has a new Savage and is stuck on shooting 44 grs. of 5744 with a 250 gr. XTP. Doesn't do too bad, but is this considered a maximum load? I'm just a BH209 shooter, so this smokeless stuff is new. I will be building one soon, after reading all this good info. You get an itch, ya gotta scratch it!
Thanx, JohnP

Yes John these are the max. If it is a speed itch that needs scratched 5744 will give you no relief. You will barely break 2000 fps with a 250 grain projectile and will never break 2000 fps with a 300 grn pill.H-4198 will get you past this point as well as the hard to get N120,again for 300 grn bullets.N110 as well as 4759 will get your 250 bullets scooting along in the 2300-2400 fps range.

Like Tar said, he is at MAX for THAT powder. But be is not anywhere near MAX speed for a 250 bullet. He may not need it.
For single powder loads he could probably push a 250 gr bullet about 800 fps faster at the top end with H4198.

Wilms I was refering to the maximums listed in the loads section. You bring up a very good point in pointing out that the 250 grainers can be pushed much faster with 4198..
