As you may have read a post that I made Monday(What Went Wrong), Well I never put the Powder in and I also was using a Ramrod that Mac has made me so I never had it marked, Plus a Man came up after the First Shot and wanted to know if that was a Muzzleloader. So Iam blaming it on I was distracted. LOL. I Feel like a Complete Idiot. I did do a complete cleaning on the Gun so I did accomplish something, Off to the Gun Club.....

Powder helps. You are not the first and will not be the last. Mark that ramrod.

That same distraction could have had much more serious repercussions...

That's a lot better than shooting a DOUBLE LOAD OF POWDER ( some here have done it)and shot their ram rods down range! When in doubt push it out !

The BC of a ramrod is pretty good, but tough to get them to group or get good velocity, so not really worth the effort Glad you found the problem....keep some painters tape in your pack and mark the ramrod on the first load edge.

I really cannot allow myself to get distracted at the range. I MUST do things in a very sequential and methodial way or BAAAADDDD things happen. You are fortunate.

Hoooo weeee, Glad that didn't turn ugly. I've done that but realized when the ramrod wend toodeep something was wrong. It was with one of my BP hammer guns. Just dribbled some FFFF under the nipple, checked ball seat and poped it out. These inlines are sooo much nicer to maintain and do corrective action. I always line up my powder vials, bullet vials and primers and set my firing sequence. Helps keep things in order. If I see a vial or item out of place I know if something is out of sequence. Thanks for the follow up info and as always the safety lessons keep all of us alert. Thanks, 10

Sounds like maybe your bullet/sabot is TOO loose! If you can easily push it down the bore with one hand, chances are you are not building enough pressure for the smokeless powder to ignite. I like two hands worth when I seat my bullet/sabot. Even if you need a sledge hammer to pound it down ;D, don't be concerned............it will fire safely. "Tite is right!" Richard

I've been working on a system. I put a vial of powder, buller in sabot and primer on the bench next to the gun, Stand the gun up to load Pour the powder in, leave empty vial on bench start buller, at this point I put the vial back in the tray push bullet home, set gun on block, prime and shoot. The stuff that's in front of me keeps me from getting messed up

Richard, I think you maybe on the right Track, Because the Bullets I am shooting Came with My Savage, and they are so loose I can push them down with One hand? I will go back tomorrow or Sunday and shoot my Normal Bullet. Will let you know.....
