New vortex scope mounted and bore sighted. Rain supposed to stop this am. Cool weather, the only problem will be a 10 mph crosswind. I will be shooting the 195 barnes with from 56 to 60 grs of H 4198. The wind will be out of the north all weekend and I do not think I can arrange to shoot with it in my face or at my back. I will probable shoot anyway, what do you think? Will I be wasting my time as to finding a go to load for this season. I also cleaned it good with assatone. Two more hours til trigger pull ;D Thanks Rusty

Deadon
Still think you should start with the 200SST for testing. As for wind conditions I usually try to wait until the wind appears to momentarily drop when shooting. It is my understanding that the bullet flight can be more drastically altered at the muzzle than say out front.
You should get a decent indication how well it will shoot and have fun.

Ed I have many more SSTs than barnes so that would maybe be a good idea? If the sst will shoot good will the barnes do good also?

Make sure that the base on your bullets is flat or you will start chasing a ghost. XTP is great bullet for load development. Good luck

Both both sst and barnes ex shot very close to the same point of impact at 100 yards. Also grouped very close to the same in my .45 pacnor.

Are you going to let a 10 mph wind keep you at the house when season is in? Of course not!Like Richard said @100 yds you need worry not! You need to become intimate with that weapon so when the moment of truth appears you will be ready! Get to shootin and posting targets!

Right! More shootin' and less talkin'! ;D You will find out soon enough what works..........If the Barnes shoot as well at the SST's or XTP's. YOU will be be the judge of what works. Everyone can tell you what has worked in their guns, but YOU need to see what works in YOUR gun! Good luck! Richard
