I am at lowes typing this on my phone as we speak. I don't see any bits labeled as a #2 drill bit. Can someone please guide me as to what I'm looking for? Thanks! Buck 636-485-5803 Buckwasp@gmail.com

Probably not the type of thing you willo find at any of the home improvement stores. And yes, it is a #3 drill bit. You will need to go to a more tool oriented shop or to one of the industrial suppliers like McMaster Carr, Grainger, MSC.com or other companies. Richard

For what it's worth, our "local" fastenal store (30 miles away) didn't have them. Had to order from grainer. $2.50 worth of bits, $8 s/h

If you want a #3 at Lowes look for a 1/4-28 threading kit, Kobalt brand and it will have a titanium coated 1/4-28 tap and a #3 drill bit in a blister pack. Not the greatest tap but take your time so not to break it. Drill bit is so-so.

The advantage of ordering from the tool supply outfits Richard listed, is that you can order cobalt drill bits and taps. I have bought some locally at a Fastenal Store, but they don't always keep such items in stock.
Buck, you may find a #3 listed under "Wire Size" bits. They often are listed in #1-60 sets.
BTW, that stainless Savage action is tough. Use plenty of cutting oil and go slow. Backing the tap up to clear chips very often Boarhog

Thanks for all of the help guys. It's some what comforting to know that it wasn't sitting out in front of me at Lowe's and I was just missing it. I will check out the cobalt kit first and see if they have it. Otherwise I will just pick up one somewhere off the net.
Thanks again, Buck
