HELP............... Today I went out to the Gun Club, for some range time with My Savage MLII, Its a brand new breech plug from Savage, also New Vent. I am trying out R7 and load the 1st one and it fires fine, Bull-eyes at 100 yards? OK so I gloat a little and load another one, same load R7 67gr Winchester W209 primer just like the first one, Snap nothing stick another Primer and same thing I tried several (8) Never got it to fire again. On all the primers theres a dimple where the pin hits, But nothing as far as firring. Do you think that the primers are bad, because they are probably 2 years old.I didn't have time to run Home and grab my CCI primers. So i sit here asking myself why did one fire and then the next 8 nothing? Opinions Please.... Splinter

sounds like my post awhile back. I cleaned the threads really well, made sure the breech plug was in all the way and haven't had any problems after that. I'm not sure what I did to fix it but it worked

take the bolt apart and see if a tiny piece of primer maybe wedged in the firing pin hole

Did you try to reseat the charge after the first fail to fire? If you did not you must! A primer alone is enough to move a charge forward and create a potential bad situation! I had that happen with 4227 only to discover that the bullet/sabot had moved several inches up the bore! It was not going to fire period!

Tar12, I did try and reseat the load, thinking maybe i didnt have it seated tight the first time. What make this real Odd is the first load went boom and i hit dead center, and then it started?
