This may have been answered before .but here goes Have the Farrell base ,Burris Extreme tactical rings, medium height a3.5x10x50 Vx3 Leupold Illuminated. The distance between the bell and the barrel is 1/2 inch the the distance between the taper on the bell and the front of the Farrell is 1/4 inch.I was hoping to get a set of low Burris Tactical rings they are 1/4 inch high the Med are 1/2 inch if i lower it 1/4 inch with the low Burris I'm afraid i will be hitting the the Farrell base with the bell. Just trying to figure a way to get the bell closer to the bore. Would i have to get a different base and stay with the med Burris Tactical? Thanks Gunny

A set of lows I measured a while back actually came out .270 height when installed. What you can do with the Farrell is push the scope a tad forward to get clearance between the bell and mount if you have the eye relief. That is the biggest problem with the high Farrell mount, it hates short scopes or ones with a long bell taper. You may have the right height for barrel/objective clearance but you have to look close at the mount/bell. I love my Ferrall, although tall it gives great access to the primer and when working with the breechplug
Another one that hates short scopes is the EGW HD mount which is a very nice mount but because of the extra forward length you run into problems with short and fat scopes. George has lowered the mount to help with this and the newer ones are pretty low.

Rossman That would be the low Burris Tactical you measured?I called Farrell and they would modify the base for 10 bucks very reasonable , i was thinking about having an extra slot milled in the front of the base so i could slide it back a bit, i Have the Kick ease butt pad which is about 3/4 inch longer than the stock. I do have a full view high and low power the way it is,it would be nice to have closer to me . I also thought of milling the leading edge of base to put a bevel on it to help get the bell to clear. But in all reality I'm only going to get it to come back a 1/4 inch
