Well its tuesday and we are back at the range,I was susposed to go bowhunting yesterday and today but it rained all day yesterday so plan on it again next week.
If you remember last week I posted a good group at 300 yds.I saved the target so I could try 2 more shots for a five shot group when richard was here.
We got to the range before day light but it was foggy so we had to wait till it cleared up before I could shoot 2 more shots at 300.
So I decided to shoot my 50 cal to set it up fore hunting.Ithought I had pleanty measured out that I wanted to use but found out I had only a few so I shot some duplexes that I had measured out for my 45.They worked out pretty good at 100 yds.Even got one 3-shot group of 1.6 in at 200 yds.
If you look at the black dot with the orange back ground the second one down on the left is my 45.Don't know why but the first shot went a little high but well inside a deer vital.I hadn't cleaned the rifle any since last monday.I was a little disappointed and figured I didn't have a chance of getting a 5 -shot group at 300 as planned. The next 2 went in the same hole just a tad higher than last weeks at 100.So that renforsed my thoughts at 300 yds.
The other groups are with my 50 at 100 yds.The third one down on the left is the load I had planned to set up the 50 with.It was N110at 17 1/2 grs under H322 at 52 1/2 grs with an average speed of 2630.Will set it up later.
Now I get to try it at 300 yds,I am really nervous because I wanted it so bad to be good. The dot I am shooting at is the small donut looking dot that you repair note book paper holes with.My retcile covers it up completely so the first shot I held so that I could see the edge of it on the left side of my reticle and it went to the left a little. Was expecting it to go any where on the target not close to the 3-shot group. Then I was really pumped up took a good aim and dang it was there, all most touching the group of 3.The 4 together made it a .875 in but the one to the right made it 2.262.Which at 300 I'll take a 3 in group anyday.
Now I'm ready to go get a deer with my 45 cal.
