Ok guys, I'm getting the itch to have a 45 pacnor to shoot sabotless. Does anyone offer a complete rifle or do i need to have it built myself? Been shooting a mlII .50 for a few years but would love a .45. Hoping edge or dave would chime in with advice. Savage or Remington action? Too many questions too ask so just chime in with advice on where to start. thanks Tim Baldwin

Tim, Go to the top of the smokeless page and look under build your rifle for starters. The Savage action is the simplest route to take. The Remmy action route requires a little more effort on your part.Pick your poison!

doesn't get much easier than doing a Savage, pretty much just plug-n-play.

:)trbo I prefer the rem but like al and Rick said the sav is a simpler build. If you have the extra money build a rem. Let me know what you decide and I will help you build it.

Dave, do you prefer to shoot sabotless or with sabots? Ive reloaded for years and understand the tinkering process to obtain accuracy but i want advice from someone with experience with sabots and sabotless . My main goal is consistant accuracy for hunting out to 300 yards, and the .45 seems to offer more consistancy with possibly less recoil. Whatever i build i will have to purchase a gun to start with so that is not that big of a deal. I have my ffl and can get a rem as cheap as a savage. Thanks again Tim

:)Al's right ;D. No unfortunately I live in NJ and the laws here are real strict so I only build my own. I can give you all the know how and places to get it done. As far as sabotless and saboted goes I prefer sabots. If you are building from scratch I would go remmy.

Quickest and easiest way would probably be an Encore frame and get an SMI .45 barrel for that. SMI has a link on this site. Clean and reassemble barrel, mount your scope, start shooting. That is real plug-n-play. Probably just as cheap as any way to go to get a .45 too, unless you already have a donor action. Now you have my $.02. Bob
