splinter... How many grains of RL7 are you shooting with that Remington? Also, have you chronographed any of your loads? If I remember right 65-67gns RL7 sighted in 3 1/2" high at 100yds would put you dead on at 200yds. This might vary slightly from rifle to rifle and sabot to sabot. Zen

splinter, my question is what is the most likely distance you will shoot. Be realistic too. if it is around 100 yards or less then be dead on at 100 yards. My suggestion is to be dead on at what your average shot will be. now being that your range is only 100 yards, if you need to shoot further then let us know the load and maybe some one that shoots the same or simalar load may be able to help you with compensation.

Starting out with 67g? No i havent Crono it or any Loads. 67gns RL7 with a 300gn bullet gives me about 2350.....65gns about 2250. Both of those amounts shoot very accurately in my .50. I killed a nice buck last year at 208yds with 65gns RL7 and the 300gn Remington.....like I said, very accurate and very effective. Good luck, Zen

Ditto X2 Also if I might add, once your deadon at the range , of most of your shots, Then shoot at 50 yrd increments and I make a note of drops on the underside of my pop up scope covers. also I always have a range finder with me and the long and very long shots ,I have always had time to use it. Naturally it depends somewhat on bullet weight, speed and other factors but the rule of thumb with all deer rifles to sight in three inches high at 100 yards. Usually this will take good care of the fifty yard head shot and the 200 yard shot. Old timers said that if the deer was beyond 200 yards hold on the back line. At a deer camp someone asked an older hunter how to lead a deer. "I never knew of one that was broke to lead." was the answer.

whyohe, I am in the process of trying R/7, But i would say 100 yards would be a Long shot, But as they remove the Corn I could have shots out to 150/200 yards, so as I read i may sight it in at 2.5 to 3" High at 100 yards. But i will not know till i have a chance to see how My gun likes R/7 first. Thanks for all the tips guys, Now Iam going to the Gun range Sunday and see what the Gun likes. I wll have plenty of time as I will be missing Bow season as i had Knee Surgery Last Thursday and I am still Mending from that.....
