Just curious, does anyone know if the burn rate of BH209 is very fast like N110 or slower like 4198, RL7, 10x, etc? Does quick load show this powder? If it does and anyone can check, assume a 67grn load under a 300gr bullet in a 28" barrel, how many inches for complete burn? Thanks

:)range it is very slow. I forget the exact number by weight( somewhere in the 90gr area) but by volume 140grs of bh would not produce speeds that 56grs of h4198 in a .45 with a 200gr bullet would. Hope this helps

Dave, thanks, but I was wondering specifically about he burn rate, not fps.
I think the 100 volume charge is about 67 grains by weight. Just wondering if it gives a quick or slow and steady kick to the bullet.

It does some funky things under pressure. If you use it with 300gr bullets it actually works better and you see a big difference with powder added and velocity gain compared to using it with lighter bullets.

If you use it with 300gr bullets it actually works better and you see a big difference with powder added and velocity gain compared to using it with lighter bullets. That explains why it gives almost identical velocity with a given load volume with 250 and 300 gr bullets, but 200gr is slower. I sent some to Frontier Gander to try in his accura with BH, almost a one hole group. I tried them with N110 in my .500 land SMI, not very good. I am wondering if they'd do better with a slower burn SML powder if it matched the burn characteristics of the BH209
