Just got my latest issue of North American Hunter Mag. They have a section on muzzle loaders to purchase; The Savage 10ml is left out of the article; they have the CVA, TC, Traditions, and a round ball but nothing on the Savage 10ml
I really would have thought they would have said something about our favorite gun, but!!

I have already expressed my opinion of all hunting mags in general and those that wright for them. Hunting mag wrighters are nothing more than salesmen trying to sell you something that their BOSSES give them little choise in what it is thay must try and sell you.
Bottom line is IMHO, that article was geared more towards making money for the mag in question than actually educating anyone.
As a result of this I ignore such articles about 99.9% of the time.

Through the brush I could see the rack was massive and it was headed my way. But I am getting ahead of my story. It all started when I purchased a Savage ML in 50 Cal. from Savage for only $550 dollars. Hornady bullets from Cabela for Only $55.00. Got my powder from Powder Valley for a give away price of 34 dollars. I could feel my Buck knife $34.00 in my pocket and knew it came to me razor sharp. My boots were.......and my clothing was full of thinsla

Got my powder from Powder Valley for a give away price of 34 dollars. I could feel my Buck knife $34.00 in my pocket and knew it came to me razor sharp. My boots were.......and my clothing was full of thinsla Yep. That sums it up all right. In my case it would be more like. " . . . . . It all started when I borrowed my cousin Leroy's ML and stole a couple bullets to go with it. Pulled the bullet out of an old thurty thurty shell and dumped the powder out of it down the barrel. Stuffed one of them bullets in it and pushed it down with the little stick Leroy keeps stuck under the barrel. Then reached around in the pocket of my overalls and dug through the dust, weed seeds, and trash til I found a shotgun shell primer and carefully put that in the little holder thingie on the bolt and closed it up. Now I sighted down the barrel at that massive two point rack, lined it up just behind the shoulder and thought, hmmm did I put that knife I got from the $1 Dollar shop in my pocket? Gonna need that thang when I pull this here trigger. Dang its cold, I can feel that wind whistling through the hole in my "Tee" shirt, wonder where I left my jacket . . . . . " Don't sell much, but has a ring of truth to it. Unfortunately, the NA Hunter probably won't be knocking on my door any time soon. ;D

Mike,
I think its all about smokeless powder, They don't want to recommend the Savage, just in case someone has an accident {double load] blames the rifle, that they recommended, and in this sue-happy country, includes them in the law suit. As for experts [writers and the like] most if not all are on the payroll, for the items they recommend ......I'm not guessing at this....I know it for a fact.

OOHhh don't get me going on this.... Shockey is a good example. I think his shows and hunts are pretty exotic and really neat. The products he uses, excepting the Encore clones, are pretty much #*^%$&, especially his powder. Heck about 100 years ago the "hunters" just about wiped all the big game out with leftover civil war guns like Spencers, Henrys, Sharps etc... They was wearin bibs, shooting a lot of cheap black powder shells, and "NO SCENT CONTROL". I really laugh at the scent control products, it's all about wind direction or how high up you put that tree stand. It's not really about the products, it's the ability of the hunter, or for some the big $ guides. When ever I go to the shows to check products I like to ask the "Big Names" in their seminars about the Savage ML if it is appropriate to the seminar subject. Mostly they just move on to "their" product. A whole lot of the guys who write and make videos are writers and cute in front of the camera but arn't any better hunters than the average. They just get to hunt for "managed" trophy deer. How many have you ever seen hunt public lands or smaller farms that arn't "managed"? That is one reason I like "Fitzgerald". He seems to kill his share of just average deer and does and has a good time doin it, just like the rest of us. I could go on and on but... later, 10 ga
mike.dawson why don't you, or anybody with a subscription, write to NAH and tell them you want to cancel your subscription and get a refund because they left the Savage out and it's the best ML and it's disrespected and it has a dedicated loyal following and we all know thay are hiding the truth etc... see what they say then. keep us updated.

artjr338wm, You hit the Nail right on the Head, As I thought the same thing, 10ga Oh i have said this several time myself, But then thought to myself hell there nothing more than Saleman's, And yes most of them could'nt kill a deer if they had to hunt like most of us, on Small farms or public land. I do think there are a few like Jay Gregory, Team Fitzgerald, and a few more.
