50 cal down to 45 cal does not seem like much until you start sanding a cooling rod down from a 50 cal to a 45. Could anyone tell me what the rod should mic at for a 45 cal pacnor? Thanks Rusty

After taking my rod from .505 to .499, I can't even imagine how much work that is. I feel for you, and if I were you, I'd be calling rossman for a .45

I use a 7/16" aluminum rod that I picked up at Home Depot. Works great Zen

Zen, is your rod from Home Depot solid or tubular? I can't find the solid at Lowes. I totally agree with Rangeball. As reasonable as Rossman is on his rods, I wouldn't be sanding one. Billy

I am pretty sure my 45 rod is a 7/16" that I ordered from MSC.

Billy It's solid..Might try any other hardware store. There are suppliers online that will cut you any length at a reasonable price. Zen

Billy +1, PM Rossman and see if he can hook you up. You'll burn more gas driving around looking for one than you will save from what he charges, very reasonable.
