Some of the guys have had good luck with the Thors, but haven't heard much on any other bullets.
I have a 50cal Remmy tucked away for such a project, looking foward to your results as mine will have to wait till next summer to get serious with it.

deerhunter,
My finds to date on .50 cal sabotless the short version is as follows.
With your pacnor you know the bore size of your barrel and you size a bullet to be a near perfect fit to that barrel. Then knurl it and boom you are shooting sabotless. You have alot of .45 cal bullets to choose from so it is not to hard to find one that works for you.
With .50 cal it is not different you need a near perfect fit of bullet to bore. Then knurl and boom you are shooting sabotless. Ah but the killer is with these savage .50 cal barrels is they can measure for .498 to .504. Therefore you have to slug your barrel to get it's dimensions and then start your bullet search. If your barrel is over .500 land to land you are going to have a very difficult time of it as there is not much out there.
My experience is with my .503 barrel I found some bullets from hawks bullets that measure .5021 to .5022. They shoot with a lot of knurling but not tight groups. Why because I did not start with a near perfect fit bullet like you do with a pacnor.
Hope this helps,
By the way I am selling the .502 hawks bullets on the trade sell board if they are a matching size to your bore. Let me know if you want to try some.

Lehigh is developing a .50 bullet for sabotless. No idea when they might be available but they hold promise.
