Got some of the new ballistic tip thors in the mail today. These are packaged in 14 qty. Im not sure if Thor is going to repackage in 15 or not but i plan on asking about that. .500" Thor is what all of my rifles "inlines" take so thats what i got. Started at only 50 yards to check the scope out and see how they grouped. 100gr BH209 - CCI 209M - CVA Accura. 3 shot group,

Nice, I recently ordered a sampler to see what size I need for my Accura. I am looking forward to your future testing.

Your accura likes the .500 thors? I thought you had potential issues with them moving off the powder? You still wrapping them with teflon tape?
How much $ a 14 pack for them?

The only time i had that trouble was in our cabelas hawken. That thing has 2 different bore sizes that starts at the muzzle and funnels out a bit more than half way down the barrel.

I received the sample pack and found the .500 too big for my new Accura. It took about 80 lbs. of force to get the .500 down the bore. The .500 was the smallest size in the sample pack. To bad because I would like to try the Thors.

Got out to 100 yards today. 100gr Blackhorn209 is the deal. 90gr gave me a 3 1/2" groups - 110gr gave me a 2" group. My third shot is the highest in the picture, the barrel was really warm to the touch and i believe thats what caused it to walk up. Need more primers again. d**n things never last long. So far everything looks good. If i get to hunt this year, i will use this set up.

Nice shooting. It seems to me that the Thors would be about as good a choice as you could make to hunt elk where you need to use a bore size bullet. Do you agree?

Thats why i love them. 250gr Thor is plenty for elk and thats the bullet i normally use. Im just seeing how the new ballistic tip 300's shoot. But if they keep this up, i could be using the 300's as well. The orange dot is 1.5"

The Thor bullets are they hard to seat? I bought 15 packs of the hornady and they are very simular to the thor bullets, Although the thor bullets looks are somewhat better than the Hornady Don't know who started to make them first. Any way they work on the same principle? But the Hornady bullets are a devil to seat what I have been doing is false starting them at home so that when I am out shooting I won't have the same problem. I hope to try them out monday. I will let you know. I am going to try sub bases behind them if accuracy isn't what I want, then if accuracy isn't still what I want Iwill try the Thor bullets. Lou

If you watch the video you will see me push the .500" Thor down with my thumb.
Yes they work on the sale principle but the Thor will be the toughest conical you basically can buy. Pure copper like a barnes bullet, no lead.

CVA Optima .50cal Took the scope off the Hunterbolt along with the rings/mounts. I wanted to have a back up rifle this season just in case " Oh okay i just like to change out rifles every other day LOL" and so i got the Optima all dialed in 1" high @ 50 yards. Its Super, oven hot out today and i wasnt in the mood to wait around, baking in the sun for the barrel to cool down. 3 shots at 100 on a hot barrel with 110gr blackhorn209, winchester W209 primers, 300gr Ballistic Tip Thor. When i go out later this LATE evening i am taking along some paper towels and windex, this scope was blurry as heck no matter how much i adjusted the eye piece. Im not sure if the lens are dirty or what but its pretty horrible as it is. I'll give it 3 more shots with the 110gr Load and then decide if i want to try 100gr BH209. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- than jack around with the 110gr charge, i went out again with 100gr BH209 and the same primer - bullet set up as before. I was pretty surprised to see how low it shot just from dropping the charge down 10 grains. Accuracy was superb and the Optima and this load is now my main hunting rifle this year! She's dead on now @ 100 after a couple sight adjustments. Under 1" ! Shots #2 and 3 were darn near into the same hole, Good thing they wernt or else it really would have been hard to believe LOL Outside to outside, This 300gr BT Thor is a tack driver in the Optima with a few minutes between shots.
