In your opinion, what's the best deal going in terms of ease of use, cleaning, accuracy and reliability for a break open ML around $200?
.50 cal with 209 only please.
Is the remington genesis a shooter? Can you still buy them?

New CVA Wolf, CVA Optima *$225* Both have the quick release breech plugs, great triggers. And both are deadly accurate.

How are the triggers on the CVA accura and optima (including pro)? Do the optima's have the bergara barrel?

the optima pro is the old model, you dont want that one.
Accura has the best trigger on a production muzzleloader as of today in my opinion. I can not find anything that comes close to it. The NEW Optima has around a 3 to 3.5lb trigger and zero grit or creep. CVA has updated the triggers on these rifles and they really have done a good job with them.
The 2010 CVA Lineup All have Bergara barrels but there is one catch:
Wolf, Optima, Scout barrels skip the multihoning process to keep barrel prices down. The bores basically do not get a mirror finish on the inside like the Accura, Accura V2, Apex, Electra get. I shoot the entire 2010 line up except for the Scout and they are ALL accurate. 1.5" groups are pretty much normal, Most are under 1" @ 100 yards.

Thanks fellas.
If an accura doesn't have the new QR breech plug, is it safe to assume it's last years model? Still have a bergara barrel and good trigger?

yeah the Accura without the QRBP is an excellent rifle! Just finished sighting mine in about 30 minutes ago. Love that rifle and its sweet trigger.

Midway Usa has last years model Accura with thumb hole stock and stainless barrel for $249.00, that's a hard deal to beat.

I second Grouse. Get a Knight Vision-----You don't have to COCK THE HAMMER! Sportsman's guide had them for $155 is what I paid for mine. It's the only break-open that I'd consider MODERN. Mine shoots hole touching groups at 100yds with 120grs BH209 and a 265gr Hornady FTX .430" with a harvester green smooth sabot.

Mike here are a couple pictures of the Optima and Wolf, These are the New models that you'll want to check out. Optima, Wolf, And that $188 Wolf will shoot! 80gr Blackhorn209, cci 209m, 250gr slick load sabots at 100 yards. This is a good light kicking load i came with with for my 15 year old nephew.

I wouldn't buy anything made in Spain.
The T/C Impact is a good safe gun for a little over $200.00.

I googed T/C lawsuits and didn't find anything on the muzzleloaders at all. Did I miss something. I have had nothing but good luck with anything that they make.

i have my ways Just looked up a sad story about a TC Condendor and how TC was caught using phony videos and not the original where the safeties did fail. Guy dropped the gun by accident with both safeties on and got shot through the heart. Another lawsuit i just found is about TC's 1137 steel degrading to unsafe level when the outside temp drops to 32* and below. Turns brittle.

I read about the TC Contender firing when dropped but in I think that anybody that would leave a gun loaded with a exposed hammer was dumber than dirt. Either unload it or leave it broke open. From what I learned from reading about it the gun was on a shelf loaded and fell hitting on the hammer and fired killing him. Firearm safety was not used.

Both safeties were on. They even mention another case where they failed as well. "The present action arises as a result of a subsequent, unrelated lawsuit in which another plaintiff claimed injuries resulting from a dropped Thompson Contender. In this lawsuit, a second video ("original video") was produced during discovery, showing that the Contender fired when dropped during testing. This video was prepared by Thompson on the same day as the trial video, but was never produced during the Sparks litigation. A magistrate judge conducting a settlement conference in the later lawsuit learned that the original video was never produced in Sparks, and that Thompson's expert witness, Kendrick French, testified several times in Sparks that he had conducted drop-tests of the Contender but it had never fired. The magistrate judge reported these facts to the federal District Court in Idaho; Sparks' attorney was thereafter informed."
Sparks filed this independent action pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 60(b), seeking to set aside the Sparks verdict. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of Sparks on the ground that Bartlett was an officer of the court and had committed fraud upon the court. The district court further held that even if Bartlett was not an officer of the court, the conduct was sufficient to constitute fraud upon the court. The district court set aside the verdict, ordered a new trial, and awarded attorney's fees.
This crap is boring to read though. Seriously, its no wonder lawyers are such..... donkeys.
Knight from what i can find mostly has a couple * a couple years old* BS cases, one being an ember that ignited and blew a ramrod through the guys hand * 2.1 million $$ rewarded* The rest are mainly cases against stealing patents already in use.

well if it is true, no offense frontiergander, but with out the suits being public YET. it is hearsay. it is good info fro those of us that may own one to look at their gun and make sure the safety's are in proper working order. until the investigation is complete to see if trigger work was done that may have effected the safeties or build up of crud, oil, lack of maintenance, ect that could also have effected it.
also you are talking about a CF gun, he is interested in a ML.
Remember lets keep this civil and no name calling please.
