Has anyone given any thought of one for a 10ML-ll? Would it help or just make for some time consuming work for nothing? I like the locking wedge on the recoil lug and how it holds the action in the stock. I was on the Savage web site and found this. Sure would be a fine stock for a 10ML-ll. ;D

I have a spin off in the basement now. I didn't use the wedge. I use direct screw pressure and incorporated it as a ramrod holder. Its on an after market laminate.
I had her out once. She was good enough that I worry not. I do want to test with and without rearward pressure. I will probably get to testing around Christmas time.

Thats what I was thinking too. But it sure looks like it would hold good. And the rib that goes to the front could be drilled for the ram rod.

I have been hoping Savage would fit the AccuStock to their muzzleloaders.

The AccuStock has the 4.40 spacing so the newer actions would fit but you also have to change the recoil lug as the one used with the AccuStock is pretty short.
Another option would be the Houge stock which also has the internal frame or what is called a chassis system. You wouldn't have the screw pushing the recoil lug back against the bedding block. They are also a bit on the heavy side and would come in about the same as a laminate maybe even a tad more. I do not know what the weight is on the AccuStock but I would think it would be more the the factory synthetic for sure.

An accustock might help. I sure need something. I just bought a 10 ML stainless with synthetic stock. I've tried everything I know and this sucker still shoots patterns--not groups. Around 6-8 inch groups. I've bedded the recoil lug, several different powders and bullets. I even switched scopes to see if it would do any good. Anybody have any suggestions?

I second the 300 gr .458 bullets (i use Barnes originals). It was the biggest reason my groups tightened up.

Two suggestions: First, take a dowel or piece of PVC pipe with some rough sand paper (maybe 40 or 60 grit) and HOG out the barrel channel. Every one of them touches the barrel.........most on the right side as you hold the gun. Make it so you can get for or five business cards to clear. Then besides that, rest your forearm very close to the recoil lug when you shoot. even with ample clearance, you can easily pull the stock against the barrel. The problem is, the forearm is so thin and flimsy, that short of re-enforcing it, it can still cause a problem if you are not careful. Richard
