Here we go again, back to the drawing board. I was having fits with the nosler partitions and my new krieger build. Oh yeah it's a .45 and I'm shooting sabotless. While I was at the range the last two times I tried shooting some of the swift premium 300 grain bullets. I spitzerized them and did the concave thing but believe it or not these were grouping at 1 1/2 ft. yes feet. No rifling on the recovered bullet so obviously not obturating adequately. Al suggested I drill out the base to allow the jacket to fill the bore sort of speak. Well I didn't want to waste all of the partition quality so I tried concaving the base with a small core box bit , a 3/8 dia. carbide to be exact. Depending on the depth I bore out I came up with a finished weight of 250 grs. and 275 grs. from an original 300 grain bullet. I haven't shot the new mod. yet but here are some pics of the outcome. these bullets wouldn't exact size to the krieger like the noslers so I had to knurl them up . Should be interesting. And yes it is a sickness.

Smoke, if that doesn't work, slip'em in a condom and shoot them in the Savage 50cal!! Here is a sectional of a 45cal Swift A-Frame, this particular one is from when Knight use to peddle them so it has no cannuler groove. Nose construction of all their 45's is the same, they lengthen the rear core to add weight. As with all Swift A-Frames, only the nose is bonded, not the rear core.

I am by far no machinist or great with aerodynamics but could the lip on the shoulder created by the re-sizing cause any problems too, IF it is not uniform? just curious.

It hasn't on any of the other modified bullets other than these heavy jacketed ones. so I doubt it very much so I'm going to say no, but who knows.

I've checked some of Smokes bullets in a vee block and indicator, and the run out is no worse then .0005, which I can't see that affecting accuracy at normal shooting ranges.
