Got this last saturday and love the thing to death. Especially the Accuracy that 1:32 barrel gets with the 245gr powerbelts.
The only thing bad about this rifle is that i can hang the trigger off my finger and it wont go off LOL. Thats no big deal, a call to cva and the guy was laughing after i told him that and said ok, i'll get a new trigger assembly out to you for it. So thats coming in and should make a huge difference with the trigger pull.
Anyway i had been shooting BH209 out of the factory slotted breech plug but it would hang fire on about the 5th to 6th shot, No big deal during hunting season but still needed improvement.
Someone over on my forum was wondering out loud " I wonder about the Accura's breech plug" DING DING!! The Accura's plug is a tiny hair shorter but the same diameter and screwed right into the Hunterbolt!
That Accura's breech plug had been modded with a .035" flash hole and a rubber o ring install to adjust head space in the Accura. Federal primers were dirty as sin in the rifle due to the length and the O ring sealed it up perfectly.
Leaving the O ring inside the rifle, i noticed i had about a dime thickness of primer movement which i will take care of later on.
With the Accura's plug installed into the Hunterbolt, its Aprox 95% blow back free and 110% reliable with BH209.
Wiped down bolt and inside the action after 11 shots,
2 shots on the far Left were from me getting trigger punchy. Not a bad 11 shot group @ 100 overall.
Last 3 shots of the day yesterday,
Small gap between bolt and primer which i will fix by shimming the face of the bolt. I am going to leave a little extra meat so the bolt presses up against the primer rim hard and pushes that primer into the o ring.
When i am good and calm on the range, it will shoot a 5 shot group @ 100 just like this,
Very accurate and consistent shooting rifle now.
