I am in the mood to try something different in my BP guns. Anybody have any insight on the difference in BH209 and White Hots. Which is easier to ignite, comparison to real BP (Goex and Swiss), pressure traces, velocity achieved with specific loads etc... I have guns with 22", 24" and 27" barrels. Some of the local guys have gone to shooting the BH209 and have found it to be quite accurate and consistent. I know the White Hots are in pellet form only and BH209 is loose only. I'll be shooting 250 to 300 gr. bullets in .50s and 180 to 250 gr. in the .45. Yes I know the White hots won't fit in the 45 but what about BH209 in the .45? Will the powders ignite with Thor and "belted" type bullets,, or do you need tight sabots and knurled bullets, or will it go bang like real BP? Thanks for any info. 10 ga

Blackhorn is the best. White hots are accurate and consistent but the crud ring sucks.
You dont need a tight fitting sabot or conical for BH209 to go off. All i shoot are powerbelts, thors and slick load sabots. The slick loads load easier than powerbelts in my nephews Wolf and accuracy is amazing with 80gr bh209.
