Anyone "polish" their barrel's bore with JB Bore Cleaner or other product? Would this be like lapping a centerfire rifle barrel's bore? Just curious.....

JB's is a lot less agressive than the bore lapping methods that are out there. It is more of a polish than an actual grinding compound. I used 200 passes (one up and one down only counts as one) through my T/C Omega which was always a bear to load anything and the result was a fairly good improvement on loading smoothness but not any measurable increase in barrel dimensions. This was done with additions of JB at about every 50 passes and a change of the patch at 100. The patch was run over a smaller bore brush. It is about like shooting the rifle many times with bore sized bullets which will accomplish about the same results. I just did not have the time to shoot that much.

i use J-B bore cleaning compound on every gun i own.i've had nothing but positive results using it.it is not a lapping compound just a very good cleaner and polish.one new rifle i bought had very sharp lands that cut my patches do to i believe micro-burrs,200 strokes of j-b's changing the patch after 20 strokes and it's now easier loading, very accurate and no more cut up patches....karl
