Guys I have not been on the board since last hunting season. I recently saw an article pertaining to Thor bullets. I apologize if this subject has been covered before. I shoot a stock Salvage 50 Cal. Rifle. Current hunting load is N110/42 gr. with 300 gr XTP. Can the Thor bullets really be shot without a sabot? Are they effective? Should you use a wad under the bullet?
Thanks very much Dog

Yes, they actually work without a sabot. I was able to shrink my group sizes down to 1.25 inches at 100 yards, but my 200 yard group was like 5 inches. You do not need a wad under these bullets.
If you search this board using the key work THOR you will some range reports by me with input from many others. They are very terminal, but for me I wanted to shoot more than 42 to 43 grains of just N110, and I wanted better 200 yard accuracy and want to be able to get out to 300 yards that is why I no longer use the THOR bullet.

I think bore tightness plays a critical role in long range accuracy with the Thors. If you call them Terry will send you a sample pack of each size so you can get the best fit for your bore. If your gun likes them, terminally they can't be beat in my opinion.

Fit is important for good performance. I thought they were playing with graphite on the skirt to make a one bullet fits all (at least in caliber).

Thank you for the replies. I did a search on Thor bullets and found a lot of information. I emailed Terry and he sent me a sample pack (four different sizes). We are experiencing a heat wave this week so I am not sure when I will be able to try them. Heat index over 100 all week. thanks everyone.

I think it was FrontierGander who said some time ago that they planned to offer in .45 but he bore variance was even greater than the .50s.

I did a search and can't find anything but this thread. Suggestions? Thanks. Floyd, when you go to the search page, put down towards the bottom where it asks how far back to search make sure you change the 7 (days) to 700. This will search back almost 2 years.

I've done hat and only two recent threads come up. Click on onecardchuck user name it will take you to a screen where you can access all of his posts. You will have to wade through a lot of other stuff to find info on Thor's but he has posted the most that I recall on Thor bullets.

I've done hat and only two recent threads come up. I just did a search with thor as the search term, didn't enter a specific username to search, left all boards checked, changed days to 700 and posts to 100 and it pulled up 100 posts related to the thor. Not sure what's going on...
