I just did a search and Has anyone done any terminal performance test on this bullet since they changed to the flex/rubber tip or recovered any bullets after kills? My 30/30 loves it but I have not killed a deer with it yet. Herman and others have had good results with the older bullet with the hard plastic tip. Any help please

Deadon, I have posted a couple of times about the big doe I shot with the 160 gr FTX in my 30-30. The bullet hit the right side front leg bone, just below the knuckle ball, then broke a rib and angled through the chest breaking another rib on the way out. DRT The bullet held together and passed through. I found no pieces or fragments. I was pretty surprised since the shot was only 15 yds. I am anxious to try the 225 and 250 gr FTX on deer next season. I sure do have the CRS disease. I spend half my life looking for things I had in my hand just moments ago!

IIRC retained weight was approx. 220gr and shots were aprox. 60&190yds. Neither deer made it out of sight. MV approx 2300fps. The deer I shot two years ago was a boom-flop at less than a hundred yds with a MV of approx. 2600fps. Bullet passed through, no recovery. I have read reports by BP sub shooters complaining about the bullet penciling through with little or no blood trail at the speeds they shoot.

L-R 250gr FTX, 250gr SW, 300gr Bonded SW, 275gr Parker BE, and a 325gr .458 FTX. Jacket construction of the first three are all the same. Unless Hornady changed the hardness of the lead, I can't see the rubber tip vs the hard plastic tip, affecting terminal performance. As Dave mentioned, there seems to be a mixed crowd on their performance, but the few deer I have shot or buds have shot, were all bang flops.

Always love those cutaway photos! Thanks for sharing!
Minor thread hijack question: how are the sabots that come with the Parker BE's--are they suitable for smokeless?

That Parker BE looks like it has a mighty thin jacket.
