Due to the big hearts of a couple of guys here I was able to try the 300 gr BOs. Temp 80 degrees and used cooling rod. 5 minutes between shots. Due to the wind,I was only able to shoot at 60 yrds.44gs of 4759, Harv blk CR. Loaded very tight. I would say from ramming so many different combos down my barrel on a bathroom scale that the seating pressure was right at 100lbs. WITH 44 GRS AT 60 YRDS 1 1/2" group. 45 grs of 4759 gave me a 1" group. Don't know if I have the gonads to try 46, At 60 yrds I would want almost one hole to be confident at 100.The book loads say from 40 to 45grs of 4759 with 300 gr bullets. Plan on trying the 300 gr Horadys tomorrow, Hope the wind lays down. Thanks to all

Deadon! Still pretty good shooting. I would think that those pointed BOs would buck the wind pretty well. As far as being a max load, it seems to me that the sabot will tell you when to stop. If you can shoot 5-10 shots without blowing a sabot @ 80*, you should have no worries in cooler weather! I am happy to see you being successful! Boarhog

I have shot the BO's,rem, and hornady 300's and I found the best powder for them was N120,if you have some of that and can stand the recoil I would try 58,59 and 60 grs.59 grs was the best in my rifle. If I was going to which I have shot quit a few I would load up 47.5 grs and start. When I used the 4759 it was the old lot numbers and the speed was alot more and the pressure must have been more.I don't remember shooting the 300 with the new 4759 but have shot the 250's and had to get up to 50 grs before getting even close to the speed of the old lot number Now I am not telling you it is safe to try it,you have to be the judge with your own experience. But if you feel that it is safe I would go 1/2 gr at a time useing the cheaper hornady or rem bullets and save the BO's till you worked out a good load. Some years ago I helped a fellow set up his new savage,he was set on a 300 gr sst so we went with that.I watched him put 7 bullets in one hole at 100 yds useing the old 4759 at 47.5 grs. Then again I have talked to fellows that say they blew sabots with only 42 grs of 4759. Hope this helps, just be carefull.A 300 gr bullet going very slow will kill a deer just as dead as one going fast.
