Great shooting Herman And Richard on your 300 yard targets, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one shooting at 300 yards to kill some time. I actually have chronographed a load and plugged it into a ballistic chart I use for 500-1000 yard shooting. This pacnor had 20 total shots on it before I shot last night. I have 4X14X50 Leupold mounted on it, and the action sits in a stock savage tupperware stock. There was no wait time between shots as usual. This is an identical match to the 50 pacnor I built last year, with the Sims recoil pad and 2" longer barrel this gun has 30% less recoil than the savage barrel. The bullet was a Barnes original in a harvester black crushed rib sabot, running 2250 FPS. Jeff~

Superb marksmanship Jeff, are you shooting the 300 Barnes "Os" sabot-less out of your .50 cal PN Savage? I did not see you mention a sabot in your post.
Arthur.
P.S. Just re-read your original post Jeff, you did state your using Harvester BLK CR sabots.
Arthur.

Great group there Jeff. I wished a lot more fellows would try their hand at shooting 300 yds.and posting their groups.I love looking at them. What was the speed with the 300 or did I over look it.

Great shooting , looks like the first .50 was no fluke, another tackdriver. This should get Wilms worked up. ;D

Worked up I am. I am surprised that this load is only doing 2250. The load data on Jeffs target shows 70 gr H4198. This same charge in my guns behind a 30o gr bullet nudges 2500 fps.
Jeff did you chrono these loads?
I haven't shot a gun since I discharged my ML's the last day of deer season. Haven't cleaned them up yet either.
Very nice shooting

Jeff did you chrono these loads? Your right on the exit speed of nearly 2500FPS, however I had to use the 100 yard average to get the compensated drop at 300 yards for the severe bullet drop of almost 27". I'm dialing the distance thru my turrents so there is no holdever guessing, Make sense?Took me awhile to grasp it, but it works. At 2500 FPS plugged in I was shooting low. Jeff~

Excellent shooting, maybe I can use my rifles as hat racks.
Are you shooting sabotless in your .50, to me the perfect rifle would be one that shoots .458 bullets sabotless.

Jeff...........Thats nice shooting! I would be tempted to put one of those .50 PN's on my other Savage but I am just not hunting anything that I need that big a bullet? And for sure, don't need or want the recoil. For those that are struggling with their Savage .50 barrels and want to still stick with fifty cal., the PN is the way to go. One peak thru a bore scope and you would be sold! ;D When Foxgrape (one of our not too often heard board members) stopped by my house to pick up his Savage, which I installed a .45 PN, I let him look thru the Hawkeye bore scope. " was all he could say!" Richard

Very nice shooting I don't know what bore I would go with for a new barrel. My custom 50 is a great shooter and that bore allows faster powders for light bullets without duplexing. Berger just came out with a 300 grain .338 with a BC around 0.90 Someday a 9 or 10 twist will be in my future, but I don't know if it will be a 45 or a 50. edge.
