Lucked out again today, shooting with richard and bill.Richard and I both shot a good 300yd group today. He will post his when he gets to it. Mine I shot N110-17grs under N130-56grs,Avg was 3018 fps, with cci m primers. This was with my 45 cal rifle. Good groups at 300 yds two days in a row with different loads WOW. I sure am tickled.

Wonderful shooting, not bad for 100 yards, but a 300, thats a group to be proud of
Way beyond limited ability.
Good Luck,
Marty

That is amazing shooting. I'm truly impressed. I'm perfectly happy when I can do that consistently at 100 yards. Is this sabotless? Billy

You shoot those excellent 300 yard groups regularly.

herman, I am getting really excited about a 45 in the future ;D Can you tell me why everyone went to a 45 cal rather that a 50 cal? There is soooooooooo much more stuff available in 50 cal. I have heared very little about the 50 cal pacnor Just wondering. Thanks Rusty

Herman, Like some others have said, I would be pretty happy with those groups at 100 yds.
Deadon, I'm not answering for Herman. Only saying what led me to go 45. LESS RECOIL! But I see no reason why we shouldn't have both! As long as it's OK with The Bride, or as long as she doesn't find out!

Deadon..........................Why do you think so many are going to the .45? Based on results here, its a "no-brainer?". Of course you could go for a Pac-Nor .50 and get some very good results but you still have to deal with more recoil. So, with the .45 you can experience less recoil, flatter shooting and better accuracy. And who needs a 300 grain bullet to kill deer? If a 30/30, with a 170 gr. bullet, traveling 4 to 500 fps slower than my 200 gr. .45 bullet can kill as many deer as it had, why in the world would you need a 300 gr. bullet? OK, maybe for moose or big bear but dang, if you can't kill a moose with a 195 gr. Barnes bullet at 2900+ fps, you better give it up! Just my humble opinion! Richard

I think richard sumed it up well for you and have to agree with him 100%. For me getting a 45 is that I love to shoot and try different things,I have asked myself which do I like better my 50 or 45 and cannot honestly say one or the other because I love shooting them both. For more constant accuracy I would take the 45.For the fun of shooting either works. For both on some days you will say those d**n muzzleloaders. I have been shooting a savage since they came out, have had 5 differant ones and have probably put as many bullets down range as anyone.I know the first time I got hold of some blemished bullets(250 gr SW) I shot 1500 + in one year not counting helping guys set up and shooting their rifles for them. Have made some mistakes shooting also once I shot the ramrod downrange, once shot a double charge duplex load now that one got my attention.I remember once I loaded the 50 up but forgot to put the powder in,took it apart pushed the bullet out,put it back together and did the same thing again had to take it apart and the second time. That was one of the funny things but wasn't so funny at the time. You can see how much I love shooting the savage.Hope each of you have as much fun as I have had shooting the savage. For the new fellows this is a pic that I had posted on the old board many years ago,I didn't realize it had been that long till I saw the date on the pic. These were with 50 cal.You can't read the writeing on some but the black dot on the right is my only 5 shot group back then, shot it with 44.5 grs of N110
