Hey fellas,
I had ordered a 24" heavy 357 Maximum Encore rifle barrel a while back from the T/C Custom Shop. I have put it thru the paces now and to say that I am impressed is a gross understatement! With 30gr AA1680 and 180gr Hdy SSP, I am getting 2290fps, with solid 3" groups at 250yds. Even the 180gr XTP and 22gr H110 is right at 2-3" at 200 yd. This gun was put together with the Indiana rifle season in mind. I did a lot of research on this caliber, and am very satisfied with the accuracy and consistency thus far. Anyone looking to go this route to abide by the new caliber restrictions in Indiana would be hard pressed to find something that offers more in such a small, efficient, compact caliber. I am impressed to say the least!
Thanks, Jay

Sounds like you have winner. How's the recoil on that in the encore. I looked at that round a bit but to put a rimmed round in a bolt would of been a pain. So I've come up with my round (a 35 short which is my answer to the IN regs) . Currently there are 3 bolt actions chambered in my round and I've got one ordered from MGM for my encore and should have it middle of June. I've done the testing on mine and I'm getting 2380 pushing a 200 gr Horn & rem SP with RL 7 and H4198. I've been up to 2450 or so but that's a hair warm and the primer pockets stretch in 2 firings. I'm getting 2450 or so with the 180's. I haven't shot anything past 100 (that's the public range here) but I'm getting sub MOA when I do my part.

rjhans53,
Recoil is so little, I can't believe it. Very happy. I have read your posts on your own wildcat, way to go! I'm glad IN tried this route with the rifle, it shows they are listening. More fun!
