Ken knows his hard cast, I tested your recommeded load 47.5 H4198, Bullet 336.4, w/sabot 348.3 Loaded very easy, no ingition on three tries,Knurled the bullet, This time it loaded with normal pressure, recoil very mild. penetration an excellent 9 7/8 inches. I recovered 186.8.grs. I showed three Barnes bullets to make the point, if you are using these bullets on large game, I prefer, a bullet that stayed together, in the case of the X bullet they shed zero weight. But no doubt at your recommended velocity, those bullets would be very good on game,

bigmoose, Thanks for the kind words and for doing some shooting :-)
As you found, sometimes you have to knurl up, or if I had know the character of your barrel I would have sent Knight sabots instead of HSB.
I am sure the 4x4 is what is making them come apart. fortunately not many game animals have armored themselves with 4x4s. :-)

Ken, As a matter of fact, it went thru 7 1/2 inches of wood before it got to the magazines.
That would be one tough animal. But if you have seen the shoulder bones of a 1500lb Moose, you know its huge.
