I got my SS Camo Savage today from Natchez. Since I decided I wanted the thumbhole model and already ordered it I was planning on shipping the Camo right back. Went down to UPS and he said he could not ship the gun without a copy of Natchez's FFL. I explained that muzzle loaders are exempt from federal law and got Natchez on the phone who said the guy was crazy and said they would not send a copy and that returns come in everyday from UPS. Anyhow Called customer service after I left and she stated they would fall under antique guns and he should have taken it. BUT she can't make outgoing calls and was not authorized to overstep him. Called the next UPS hub he said hes been a supervisor there for 10 years and they will not take them without an FFL even stated he would not ship a BB gun without an FFL. Anyone else have problems with them or are these 2 just idiots? He told me the Post office would not take it either. Went there she never asked and I never told, insured it for 600.00 out the door it went. Just really PISSED me off. Especially when I explained it was just shipped to me an hour ago by UPS by your rules I would have to have an FFL to accept the shipment. UHHHHHHHGGGGG

David, I've had the same thing happen at a UPS "store"; they directed me to the main UPS office, which did accept the ML. The least hassle is to ship with the post office, as you found out.

Pack it up and tell them it is gun parts, don't say anything about it being a rifle or muzzleloader. When I ship stuff to Black Ice in Utah, thru UPS it is always rifle parts and not a rifle

Mike, even when I told the UPS store I was shipping gun parts the counterman said he wouldn't take them; his advice was to lie in the future.

Download UPS rules on shipping firearms, and stick it in his face, if he still says no..break his jaw.

My local UPS and USPS offices have no problems shipping MZ or long guns. When I recently sold a shotgun I shipped it USPS and just showed them a copy of the FFL and they said OK and that was that. I sold my MK85 about a year ago and shipped it UPS. Told them it was a muzzleloader and they said OK no problem. Guess I'm lucky.

Its the same "DONT ASK DONT TELL" policy instituted back in the 90s. Works great. Mike.Dawson's right. That sucker is a frog gig for shore. NEVER EVER EVEN WITH FFL # SHOULD YOU LABEL A SHIPPED PACKAGE WITH THE WORD "GUN". That's what my postmaster told me.

David.........If you go to page #2 on the back porch, you will see a thread I had started called "UPS shipping precautions". It seems all these different UPS locations/UPS stores operate on their own rules. Fortunately, mine does not give me any grief. Richard
