Well, after kicking around the Indiana Rifle Rule for a while now, and doing research and asking lots of questions, I have put my order in to the T/C Custom Shop. I ordered a 24" heavy contour 357MAX barrel for my Encore. From what I have read, guys are in the 2200 fps range, with 1 to 1/2 MOA at 200 yds without much effort. I am looking forward to a new project this year! Can't wait. Jay

I have been thinking for years on building a rilfe in this caliber. I have Dan Wesson revolver in .357 max, and 10" and 14" contender barrels also. Killed a lot of tin pigs back in the day. Some day need to get it done. A pleasure to load and shoot.
Let us know how it works out when you get it.

Dans, that website is what got my interest started in the Max. It is a very nice read, and I have e-mailed Steve with a couple thoughts and questions. He is a very nice guy to correspond with. I really kicked around the different calibers for awhile. I love my 10ml2, but want a fast backup shot. And shotguns are out of the question for me (recoil and price). I hunt open crop fields and have many opportunities for 2, 3, and 4 shots sometimes, and have capitalized several times with my handgun. Plus I hate to be mainstream. Many guys are going the easy 41, 44, 45 route in leverguns around here, so I just had to go a different direction. I sighted in a guys 44 Marlin lever last fall, and with Hdy 225ftx, with a 100yd zero, it shot just 9in low at 200yd, and was very accurate (2-4in). Way more than he'll ever need. So with Max, 180-200gr rifle bullets, it should be a breeze, I hope. I haven't read too much negative on the Max, so I am sure I will have lots of fun. Plus I reload and have 357mag dies, brass, powders, and many other components to keep me busy if I so choose. So I think I made a good choice. The Custom Shop says 10-12 weeks turn around time, so it won't be too long. Can't wait! Jay
