Has anyone tried and of these? I heard some guy at a gun show talking about them. They said they were made out of something that makes their 175 gr 50 cal bullet as long as the 300 gr horn xtp. Just wondering if anyone has tried them out with the ml10. Thought I had literally shot every bullet on the market out of my other muzzle loaders but never heard of these. Rusty

Deadon, I tried them a few years ago, but they were 45 cal. I think they were 155 grain, not positive though. They didn't shoot bad, then when I called them later in time to get the heavier grain bullets she told me they had some family issues and was holding off on sales. That was all I heard of them until I saw your post. I think they were solid copper if I can remember.

If I remember correctly, the Devels are the ones that are hollow all the way through?

Tar, I think the one with the holes in them were called the bullet, or O- bullet maybe made by white. The devel's I had, had a jagged edges like a star.

I don't think they had the hole right thru they had a cross type nose similar to a phillips screw driver, they claimed to be a non expanding bullet. I think the guy that developed them died, possibly murdered.

Smokeeter, That's the same thing she had told me on the phone. They think he was murdered. Yes They do look like a philip screw driver.

One shot was the one on the old board that posted about these bullets. They were pretty darn accurate.I got to shoot some before the fellow died but never hunted with them.Maybe one shot did. I know I kept one or two but wouldn't know where to start looking for them. You can read about them here. www.levedcartridgeltd.com/pr02.htm

I had them and tested them. They shoot great on paper but are poor on deer. A pencil hole in and out. They are no longer made as the owner was murdered in his shop 4-5 years ago. Mike

I used the Devel 175 grain in 2003 and 2004 in my 10MLII.They were a VERY accurate bullet for me with 44.5 grains of VV N110 (I'm thinking I was getting around 2700 fps with that load).Although I did get 4 Deer with that bullet,I switched to Barnes Bullets, both the Spitfires and now the BO's.The Devel's did not expand at all, same size in and out,no matter what was in the way. They measured .452 dia and were a Copper/Tin Alloy if I remember correctly.I also did here that the Gent was found dead, under mysterious circumstances.I do have a bunch left, here is a pic of a few next to a 300 grain Barnes Original.

I would love to have some more of those 175gr DEVELs. I shoot all mine up from 2001 to 2003. Unfortunately, Charlie Kelsey, was murdered in Georgetown Tx in April 2003 and his Leved Cartridge Co. is no longer in business. Charlie was a one heck of a nice and decent guy and didn't deserve to have that happen to him.
Of the tens of thousands of smokeless powder muzzleloading bullets I have sent down range, the 175gr DEVEL was the most accurate bullet I have ever shot, bar none. The only sub-1/4" groups, I have shot with any muzzleloader, have been with the 175gr DEVEL bullets.

If I remember correctly, the Devels are the ones that are hollow all the way through? They are called "The Bullet". JADA Enterprise PO Box 549 Marana, Arizona 85653 520-682-6609 To the best of my remembrance. RB and I shot these, and they were very accurate. I never shot a deer with them, but I believe he did and liked them. They came(maybe still come) in both 45 and 50 cal offerings in a # of weights for both. They are very long per weight. They have a Kevlar base. I would use a WW with these. The Devel bullet person was discussed on the Green board a few years ago. He died as someone has said. I think TB also tested these bullets - remember nothing about anyone's outcomes with these. I think Edge may have also looked at these "The Bullets". I do remember we discussed them. They are also used in CFs. So much for the history as I remember it.

Thanks Steve.... ;D I knew I was not losing it! I researched "The Bullet" again and it soon became apparent as to why it did not gain popularity with savage shooters. It still has a following with BP shooters.

The company website is still up and has a picture of the 175gr 50/45 bullet at. www.levedcartridgeltd.com/faq.htm They also offered a 45/40 132gr bullet. These were designed as non-expanding bullets with a unique design more reminiscent of a broadhead than an expanding bullet. Unfortunately that is a bit hard to see in rip10ml's picture unless you are looking for it. In fact, on their website they even have a recommended load of 46 grains Alliant Reloader 7 for a velocity of 2300fps in the Savage ML10. There is a statement on their order page that says, " Due to some internal restructuring, no bullets are available at this time. If you are interested in purchasing bullets in the near future, please e-mail us at Leved Cartridge, Ltd., or fax us at 800-887-4198, and we will contact you as soon as they become available. Thank you."

Charlie promised a lot and when the bullets didn't quite work the way they were supposed to the blame went to the company that was producing the bullets. Supposedly the bullets tip was not to Charlies design specs and the hydrostatic shock that was supposed to be developed didn't happen. Some of the 9mm and 40S&W rounds were very impressive during testing.
Charlie was a legend the custom pistol circles and some of his guns were way head of the times. The way I heard it Charlie went missing and it wasn't till several months later they found his burned remains in a drainage culvert, not too far from his office that he rented from STI.
