Hello again, I just got my new savage ml10 and I purchased a used Bushnell Elite 3 x9 stainless scope as recommended by some on this forum and others. My question is, are bases and rings made in stainless. I want this rig to look as good as it feels. Have not shot it yet, still studying, lurking and listening. Thanks for all the help.

I'm not sure if you mean your scope is stainless steel or just silver color. If there is a stainless steel scope I've not heard of it. I know of silver warne bases in steel, Midway #263023. Conetrol makes rings and bases from stainless steel but I've not used them.

I believe Tally has some and Near. A set of Near rings and base will set you back about $450.00 though. www.nearmfg.com/

I am sorry sir, I have a bushnell elite 3x9x40 that is silver color. It came off of my Knight disc. It came with the rifle and has stainless rings but the bases do not fit. The holes on the savage are farther apart than on the Knight. There are no markings on the bases or the rings that i can find. Help if you can please. thanks again Rusty

deadon you need to get steel bases for a savage short action. when you install the front base make sure the front is not touching the barrel nut. good luck clayman

As mentioned above, the midway #263023 are for weaver style rings. if you rings are weaver style they will work on these bases. That # is for an accutrigger gun. Midway is currently out of them but the Warne#isM902/902S (S meaning silver) so if you want to look elsewhere. Make sure your rings are steel by checking with a magnet. If your rings are not weaver style or steel I recommend Burris Signature Zee's, they come in silver, medium will work low might. Zee means it is for a weaver style base. And it is the recoil lug behind the nut that causes interference issues.

Hate to tell you guys but Weaver, Leupold, Warne and Burris silver mounts are not stainless steel, they are nickle plated. Talley's are stainless steel (about 50% more), Near Mfg's stuff is stainless and TPS also makes stainless rings. There is a new company called Murphy Precision that is making stainless bases and if you have extra money burning a hole in your pocket they will even sell you one in titanium for around $200.

Deadon, one problem with using silver colored rings and bases is every brand and every batch in a given brand seem to be a different shade of silver. It is almost impossible to get gun, base, rings to match perfectly. On one of my stainless guns with silver scope I used black bases and rings for contrast. I also have black bases silver rings and black scope on another stainless gun.
