Purchased this gun 2 years ago and until this season have been thrilled with the performance this is my first inline. The first two years the accuracy with 100gr. of 777 pellets and 225 Powerbelts was outstanding. This year I have had many misfires or delayed ignition to the point taking out the breech plug after every shot for cleaning. This past Thursdays scenario was shoot a doe and watch her roll over backwards, quickly reload and look to see the doe stand up again ,I fire "tunk" only a smoking primer , repeat "tunk" with a new primer doe is now exiting across the ridge she came in on. When I get back to camp two hours later without the deer I try one more time and after the flintlock like delay the gun fires. I did not mention that I did clean the gun before I left that morning and the first shot fired well. Do I have damp powder or have the breech plug bored out. I just found this sight yesterday and am overwhelmed with the valuable info especially about bullet choices, PB's and I have parted ways. Thanks

have you cleaned the breech plug well. The pocket where the primer goes in. Also how old is the powder. Those would be my first thoughts. Try a 1/8" drill bit in the end of the plug.

The powder is about a year old and I do live in coastal N.C land of high humidity. The pellets feel dry and don't crumble for what its worth.

Your breach plug could be nearly clogged. With the gun unloaded will it shoot fire all the way out the muzzle when firing a primer only? Try using hotter 209 primers. Fed 209A or CCI 209M. It could also be the pellets, moisture could be affecting ignition even though the outside of the pellet feels dry.

I too would clean the breech plug thououghly and completely thru and try some Federal or CCIM primers, and if I still had troubles I'd try some new powder. I haven't tried this but I've heard of people putting 5 or 10 grains of 777 loose powder down the barrel before the pellets to help ignite them, but if you've got a clean breech plug and good primers them pellets should ignite on their own if they're good. Good luck

i'd dump the pellets, they've been nothing but trouble on forums lately.

With the exception of White Hot pellets in my Electra I've never had as good of results with pellets as with loose powder. Just not as accurate and harder to ignite.

1/8" bit is probably too big for that CVA plug. Try a 7/64" if you can lay hands on one. I think the new ones use a 3mm hole.
